RE: Exports15 Jun 2023 09:20
First thank GoldenPhoenix for sharing..
Ultimately Ghana still need foreign investment to implement dreams, of retaining value chains in the country.
Surely is not by making laws and restriction, that they will find $billions of investments and the know how, coming to their country and build the value chains......
I am sure they are well aware of this, so with their policies they risk to kill from the start the green energy mineral industry, to the benefit of another African country..
IMV the Minister is making these comments for political reason, wanting to show that the current Gov. interest and policies are for the people and the Nation. Remember soon we have the elections.
I think All plans are already to sell locally in Ghana some lower grade Li concentrate for the glass and ceramic industry.
I mean Ghana is a democratic country in respect of laws and contracts, how are they going to square up restriction on exports, with the agreement All has with Piedmont?
From the video at 3.20 min in when he talks about lithium, he also says that they need to be realistic about it, meaning that they will not seek to retain the refining Li value chain (highest end). To me this means they will not try to build a refining plant in Ghana, but they will retain a "significant" proportion of the value chain...
This imo means, Mining lithium, refining Li to SC6%, keeping some feldspar and low grade concentrate for glass and ceramic, and these are Atlantic Lithium plans..... I am not so sure about DSO though but possibly at the begin a small quantity will be allowed to be produced and sold, before the mine is up and running...
The minister though did made a bold statement, saying the under no circumstances Ghana will export Lithium in its raw form...now does he mean DSO or SC6%?
