Spain approves the allocation of €377 million to the Auction-as-a-Service (#AaaS) mechanism

ℹ️ The Council of Ministers approved on 24 June, at the request of the Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico (Ministry for the Ecological Transition and the Demographic Challenge, MITECO), the allocation of €377 million to the Auction-as-a-Service (#AaaS) mechanism to finance #renewablehydrogen production in Spain.

🎟️ Funded by #NextGenEU resources under the #RecoveryPlan, this amount will subsidize pre-selected projects from the second general auction of the European Hydrogen Bank that did not receive support from Brussels due to the exhaustion of the allocated EU budget.

✅ The Royal Decree launches the first national call under the Auction-as-a-Service mechanism and sets the final amount with which MITECO will support green hydrogen production initiatives in Spain that had previously received the EU’s endorsement last May but were excluded from the European grant allocation.

🤝 The AaaS mechanism creates a pathway for enabling, with national funds, those projects selected by the @European Commission. These national subsidies will be granted directly by the Institute for the Diversification and Saving of Energy (IDAE. Instituto para la Diversificación y Ahorro de la Energía), following the ranking established in the second EU-wide auction by the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA), the managing body.

🌱 The incentives will take the form of subsidies for hydrogen that is produced and certified as 100% renewable — #RFNBO, according to the Renewable Energy Directive #REDIII— for a maximum period of 10 years from the start of operations, in projects that comply with the “Do No Significant Harm” (#DNSH) principle at all stages.

🆕 This is the first time in Spain that aid is not granted for investment in assets, but rather for the production of renewable hydrogen.

What are central driving forces to accelerate cost decreases and cost parity of 💧green 💧hydrogen?

Eternal Power GmbH has developed a "Green Molecules Market and Pricing Model" that structures key driving forces of future cost decreases.

A key driver will be the deployment of green hydrogen production and an increase in operational projects. An important step was taken in 2024 with an acceleration of projects having passed FID, partly supported by #IPCEI funding.

Eternal Power's innovative offering of💧HydrogenAsAService💧that we announced end of June 2025 with our Strategic Partners ITM Power and Hydropulse will considerably contribute to accelerated project execution by significantly reducing adoption barriers from a customer's perspective (value proposition: "Standardised Solution. Fast Execution. No Capex. No Risk. No Project Finance.").

Another central lever to improve market conditions for 💧green hydrogen💧will be addressed by reducing regulatory requirements (as outlined in the coalition agreement by new government in Germany and vividly discussed by EU member states). EWE AG recently quantified the cost surplus the "Additionality requirement” adds to 💧hydrogen unit production costs.

@Jeff, you are 💯 % correct, not only do they not know anymore than us but there is still a lot that we don’t know!

These undisclosed Companies giving contracts to ITM Power are obviously massive companies with massive deals in the pipeline, these will transform ITM back up to the highs of the past and potentially beyond.

I’m not going to mention the sizes and companies again but they are life changing for both ITM and shareholders.

Dennis is great at under promising, over delivering and keeping a tight ship both on news flow and the finances hence guidance up from £160 Million to £205 Million

ITM Cash Generative, all extremely important and positive signals

Helikon do also invest in companies or Go Long and they have recently made a huge profit as the article below shows.

Unfortunately for Helikon they appear to have taken their eye off the ball and let’s face it, none of us knew about HYDROPULSE! Definitely no leaky ship with Dennis and ITM Power .

Helikon could go long and still walk away with a good profit but the longer they leave it to close their positions the more it’s going to cost them.

Its purchases, which started in late 2024, ended up beating many local investors to one of this year’s most unexpected stock rallies. Warsaw’s WIG-Energy sub-index is up 80% in 2025, nearly three times as much as the WIG20 benchmark and four times more than European peers.

Selling Short:


A short seller borrows shares from a broker, sells them in the market, and hopes the price will decrease. 


* Closing the Position (Covering):


To close the position, the short seller buys back the same number of shares they borrowed, returning them to the lender. 


* Profit or Loss:


If the price has fallen, the short seller can buy back the shares at a lower price than they sold them, making a profit. Conversely, if the price has risen, they'll have to buy them back at a higher price, resulting in a loss. 


* Short Squeeze:


A sudden increase in price, often due to a rush of short sellers trying to cover their positions, can lead to a "short squeeze," forcing them to buy at increasingly higher prices, potentially incurring significant losses. 


* No rules exist for how long a short sale can last before being closed out.

* The lender of the shorted shares can ask that the investor return the shares at any time, with minimal notice, but this rarely happens so long as the short seller keeps paying the margin interest.

* A broker can force a short position to be closed if the stock rallies strongly, causing large losses and unmet margin calls.

Disclosures and reports are required not only when the position reaches these thresholds, but also for each subsequent 0.1% change above or below.

Basically they have to buy back 22,000,000 Million shares to close their short positions in order to return the shares back to the broker they borrowed them from, it’s a real & physical transaction. Now they are obviously not going to be able to buy them back in one go but as they start buying them back traders will piggyback them and that is what causes the short squeeze and forces the share price vertical.

They can obviously cover their losses by buying more shares and then sell when the price goes high enough to cover their losses and potentially make a profit going long.

While all this plays out they will be paying huge Margin Calls!
