So the new Premier (Harbour Energy) will have a market cap. of £4 billion with a not inconsiderable £4 billion debt. But it is producing over 200,000 barrels a day and will have substantial tax losses to use.

Our Market cap. is less than 1% of theirs.

Sea Lion is 43% of their reserves and it is appraised and sanction-ready and we have 40% of Sea Lion.

I am hopeful!

It's a good find but you could argue that the people involved are just doing what they can (like this OPEP) while they wait for the suspended project to hopefully be restarted.

Yes, the revenue from Sea Lion and Isobel with a 9% Royalty and circa 20% Capital Gains will be huge. There are only a few thousand islanders and if this goes ahead they will have a per-capita sovereign wealth fund exceeding Norway.

It is definitely in FIG's benefit to get this going. Anything that helps it go ahead will be worthwhile for all parties. Time is ticking in the post-fossil fuel world.

I reckon FIG should offer an upfront tax deferral for the parties until their development costs are funded. That way the investors will know that their invested money is safe. Later FIG will get the cream.

One of the many reasons I like this company is the large share ownership by the BOD.

What would be ideal would be a list of companies sortable by their BOD share-holdings percentage. But anything close to this would be great!

It is of course up to FIG but I can imagine a similar arrangement may happen next time.

The management are all doing their best here though I hope. The new appointments may well spur things on - they clearly know new people with money to invest. The vaccine news is great too and the oil price is back up.
