Vestas has signed a conditional agreement for the supply of turbines for an offshore wind power project in two phases in Northern Europe with a capacity of 1 GW.

Vestas did not reveal the name of the customer.

Inspiring the next generation of engineers in Appledore 🌟

We were proud to welcome 15 GCSE engineering students from Park Community School in Barnstaple to our Appledore site, as part of our Social Value Schools Engagement Programme.

The visit kicked off with an engaging careers planning session and Q&A. Students had the chance to chat with former Park Community School students who are now thriving with us as Year 1 apprentices. They then enjoyed a tour of our bustling site, getting a first hand look at the career options we can offer them.

DeepWind, North of Scotland Offshore Wind Cluster

Ever so glad that what was possibly the worst kept secret in offshore wind is now officially out there. Yes, Scotland has scored another major offshore wind project with the planning application going in for a new Vestas blade facility at the Forth Green Freeport in Leith.

Time for a deep dive into the Scottish/UK supply chain to see if we have companies that can support this new project?

The Scottish clusters, DeepWind and Forth and Tay Offshore, look forward to working with Vestas as the project progresses. Vestas is one of three turbine manufacturers which are already members of the cluster and this project will intensify the activity with them in Scotland.

Exciting news from Harland & Wolff Appledore. Our bespoke cable barge is evolving from blueprints to reality, which is now unmistakably taking the form of a barge.

As the painting now progresses, we’re moving closer to completion with ballasting and the installation of fenders on the horizon.

This project, a collaboration between the KBS Maritime Project and Operational teams, with specialist support from Attis - Principal Designers & Safety Experts, is tailored to enhance operations at Portsmouth Naval Base, drawing on insights from the current barge and elevating it with significant improvements.
