π’ Progress at our Arnish Site π’
We are excited to share the completion of the first Cory barge at our Arnish site! π οΈ
Our contract with Cory, the largest waste collection and recycling service on the Thames, involves delivering a total of 33 barges. So far, 8 have been completed at Belfast and six at Methil.
This ongoing project highlights our commitment to supporting UK industries and contributing to environmental sustainability. This barge, named Erne after the Irish river, will play a crucial role in Cory's operations, transporting recyclable and non-recyclable waste and removing around 100,000 truck journeys from London's roads each year.
Albert Allan, General Manager of Harland & Wolff Arnish, said:
"This first Cory barge, Erne, completed here at Harland & Wolff Arnish was incident and injury-free, and the team have done an excellent job."
π Why It Matters:
Environmental Impact: Diverts 650,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste from landfills annually.
Economic Growth: Supports UK shipbuilding with high-quality local employment and apprenticeships.
Harland & Wolff's Craftsmanship: This project showcases the skill and dedication of our team, bringing pride and quality into every build.
A big thank you to our dedicated team at Arnish for their hard work. Stay tuned for more updates as we continue to deliver on this significant project
