PS my bet is blue this morning turning to red by late afternoon i.e. no change on the usual outcome

So, historically, whenever Ariana produces some (supposedly) good news the sp drops again. This morning's RNS looks decent...maybe even promising....but what's the chances that we'll see the sp go below 1p rather than nearer to 1.5p by the end of play, today.

I invite you to place your bets on whether it's a red or a blue day today.

Whilst I agree with you regarding confidence in Sener and de Villiers, they do have quite a few million shares each, so, it is in their interest to sort it all out.

So gold price now above $3000, Kil still producing, Tav about to produce (apparently) and yet this seems like cash flow is stuffed and we need a top up of cash to keep going.

Honestly, you couldn't make it up.....I am so disappointed, no, actually, I'm quite angry at all this....mis-management.

In all seriousness, at what point might a Sandstorm step in and take out Ariana on the cheap....I hope it happens and I'd probably take 3p a share....

Recent history suggests an update is due anytime soon (probably next Monday).

Recent drifting of the sp suggests the best we might hope for is a 'meh' type of update.

Honestly, after years of holding this share even I'm getting fed up with the overall performance (and I'm usually a glass half full kind of a guy).

Any thoughts on what we/you might hope for in terms of a trading update?

I can't believe - well, I can, actually - that the market cap is now less than £36m. Really, what are the BoD doing to support the sp e.g. some share-buying at these levels would give a bit of confidence, perhaps....

Interesting that investigation by ED. Is it on the basis that there were concerns or was it just a routine random check.

Also, if I'm interpreting it correctly, there was a share buyback and those shares were then distributed to existing shareholders on their current proportionate shareholding. I don't think I've seen the number of shares I hold increase, though...

Looking at the numbers I'm also wondering why the cost of materials consumed went from 74% to almost 86%. I would have thought this relates to the cost of coal which I had thought had been dropping and, in any event, buying in larger quantities might have also meant a keener price.

Some transparency from the BoD would be helpful right now about these issues and how things are going forward

Well, that's me chipped in with a small buy (10.7p) this morning. I still have faith in the bigger picture here, although I can see why some might be a tad disappointed with those results. That all being said, I reckon there's too much good news in those results to keep the sp down for much longer.

Andrey - I see you're a new poster on LSE, in general. Are you a holder of OPG, if you don't mind me asking?

Any thoughts/guesses on what the outcome might be and what that outcome might have to be to have a material positive effect on the sp?

I very much appreciate the likes of posters davey50 and rivaldo who, very kindly, keep us up to speed with information which appears to give us all hope that the OPG sp will, ultimately head northward.

It does look, though, as if there is unlikely to be any more news about performance from the company itself until the end of September (if history is anything to go on).

So, for now, it seems the time to either buy (if you think the news is going to be decent.....I'm in this camp by the way) or sell if you think that news is going to be disappointing. For now, though, I think we're going to be sitting in the doldrums for another couple of months before (hopefully) lift off.

Oi, Deano - I'm a sprightly 61 year old, so hoping I do have a few years left to wait for a decent return here (as I think I might need those years!)

Surely even you must get frustrated at the lack of commitment to deliver projects and, on the odd occasion we do see timescales, they are hopelessly missed (which is probably why we don't have any such definitives given any more)?

All I'm after is some transparency and degree of certainty here about projects' timescales, funding etc and not just 'there's lots of great stuff in the ground...honestly'.

Unfortunately, you'll have to get used to these 'jam tomorrow' RNSs. Typically, after another 'we are pleased to announce....RNS the sp jumps up a little (like today) then retraces, as the realisation that there are no definitive timescales attached to anything, or any likely financial outcomes determined.

Sorry to be so cynical - I used to be one of the optimists but I've been worn down by years of false dawns. That being said, I'm still here and holding my shares just in case the jam finally does appear.......

I'd rather they didn't stop posting, actually.

I feel the same as you about Dokwe......seems to be a game-changer but comes with much risk from what I can see (political, in the macro-environment and financial, more parochially i.e. funding the development).

I'm wondering if the recent sp uplift is as a result of Tavsan coming on stream (and some people 'in the know' taking advantage). Pure speculation on my part, I admit.

I know C&B has more concerns about Salinbas - and the never-ending saga there - which is doing nothing to instil any confidence in Ariana but I remain slightly more optimistic given the run on gold, ongoing existing production, Tavsan and now the prospect of Dokwe (and that's without anything ever happening at Salinbas).

Overall, I'm holding but not adding right now.

Right, I'm just off to put in my application to be manager at Burnley now that Mr Kompany appears off to Bavaria. I have little/no experience of managing a football team....but that didn't stop Mr Kompany being appointed having only had a short time as a manager. Wish me luck :)

@Strangerstill......if you're right, that means about £10m profit each year for the next 10 years before any benefit from silver credits or any other of the projects coming on stream. In turn that ought to mean a regular dividend policy could be introduced, say 0.1p (costing about £1m which doesn't seem unreasonable/unfeasible and wouldn't/shouldn't hurt ongoing investment in the business).

Maybe I'm reading things wrong....wouldn't be a first.....but like you, this does seem a very positive message, today (and a bit more than the usual 'Ariana is pleased....blah, blah, blah')

I've just tried to find out if Starvest hold much more stock here but I can't see that they do. All I can say is they must be holding less than 3% of the issued share capital.

Anyhow we pretty much seem to have weathered the 'Starvest Divest'..............for now, at least

I've been doing so much headshaking and sighing at what's going on here as well as with the Clarets it's nice to get a bit of time off from at least one of them, this weekend :)
