Looking back over previous years, it seems that we have, historically (or should that be, hysterically?), had a trading update this week in January.

What are you looking for in that update, assuming one's to come out later in the week - especially if it's to give something of an uplift in the sp?

Like Magpie, I felt this RNS might actually be a gamechanger for once.

It speaks to a number of issues such as infers the politics of Zimbabwe might be less of a problem, funding options going forward, and, importantly, hints that Kerim isn't going to give (as much of) the company away this time as he' done in Turkey albeit he has to give something away to secure the funding.

Maybe I've got those rose-tinted glasses on again but I had hoped this RNS might actually push us back to 2p+....although I fear the slight uptick followed by the painful drift back down.

PS Magpie1862 - I suspect you are a Notts County type. There's the occasional football chat on here (normally bemoaning another Burnley defeat...although I think John has WBA sentiments, too. Whatever....welcome to you)

I just don't see how the good doctor and MdV are ever going to extract the value out of the business. Whatever they're doing, the market seems to have lost confidence....the boy that shouts wolf, also comes to mind, if we're thinking of analogous expressions.

slig2, I'd hope a 3p offer is a low-ball offer and the Board can do better than that, should any offer ever come in. Even if they got to 4p or 5p, it would still be selling AAU on the cheap considering the assets in the ground but I think 5p would probably almost certainly be enough to take them out.

As for the Clarets....big win against Dirty Leeds. Big game coming up against one of your (John) local teams, Wolves this weekend, then a series of games with Burnley v London (ha ha). Maybe hope for the Clarets yet.....sorry, back to my optimistic wishful thinking!!!!

I was conscious of putting words in your mouth, John. Apologies....cynicism/pessimism might not your thing.....and, yes, I prefer your 'realism' approach these days....it avoids disappointment as much as anything.

I, too, often ponder whether anyone might take out AAU - I think I've even mentioned the Sandstorm/Mariana deal as a similar type deal which happened a few years back. Considering AAU has over a billion dollars' worth of gold in the ground (apparently), and a current market cap of, what £35m, surely even a low ball offer of 3 times market cap i.e. 4.5p wouldn't be beyond the bounds of possibility?

Maybe I should wake up from my naive dreamworld and get back to the realism of the situation......unfortunately, I'm the same regarding football, dreaming of 17th place in the Premier League when the stark reality is likely to be another relegation :(

Well, I had a ticket for Sunday before I was rudely reminded (by Mrs LoB) that the weekend was 'meant to be about our grandson and his birthday' so I had a better option than the match, it seemed. I think that tells you all you need to know about the priorities (well my priorities) and who's the boss (not me) in our house! :)

As for AAU, I'm still in for around a million shares at an average of 2.4p. I used to be one of the optimistic types but I'm much more on John's side of pessimism/cynicism (dare I say?). I wish I was in DJ's position of taking a £300 loss and moving on .

Here's hoping we can one day get back to the 4p, 5p, even 6p days although I'll probably be long gone by then if it gets anywhere near my breakeven point.

Back to footie - 3 points against Forest on Saturday would be good (and possible, I reckon) although I won't be on the Turf until the Chelsea game in Nov.

Pre-season over-enthusiasm. One game into the season (at Spurs) and I suspect the harsh reality will have kicked in....all very much like AAU (over-excitement followed by inevitable deep disappointment - ha ha).

I had wondered how many of the 'old gang' were still knocking around. Great to see DJ and C&B (looking forward to next season back in the PL?) as well of course John and Vanvan.

Well bubsy, looks like you're right so far.....blueish in the main, although I note recent trades suggest it's a bit wobbly now and the drop back into the red zone might be upon us. (I hope I'm wrong though....I'm very fed up with being around the 1p mark for so long and miss those (short) days when we were at 6p)
