If a market cap is £1 Billion with 1 billion shares, what would the share price be if 50% of shares were bought back and the market maintained a value of £1 Billion.
The answer is a reality not theory.

The market gives a valuation every trading day - NOTHING to do with the purchasing of shares to give increased investment benefit to shareholders.

the day to day share price doesn't concern me in the slightest - many others though seem to go into a panic/moaning mode.
Staying at the current market price (or lower) for a few years with the same profitability and a yearly £2 Billion + buyback each year would suit me fine

If £2 Billion was paid as a special dividend, then on xd day the market cap is likely to fall by £2 Billion.

A £2 Billion buyback does not reduce the market cap by £2 Billion

I have said that a total cost figure posted is not a total cost figure - because it did not include tax.

I really should not have needed to expand again - I have given the reason why it is incorrect a number of times already.
Maybe you should spend 5% of the effort in defending an incorrect total spend figure, in getting the cost figure correctly defined.

WHO has ever said that a buyback increases the market cap by the amount invested?
It will increase the value of each share by about 2.8p at the same time increasing share investment as a percentage by 6%
