Centric shares bought back are being held in treasury, to then at a later time to be used as either staff schemes, sold back into the market,cancelled or a combination of the three.

The improvement in the Centrica share price more recently is down to the improvement in the business.

Lloyds buybacks for cancellation are a good longer term investment with an increasing share price on a maintained market cap. The market recently has decided to reduce the market cap (valuation) of Lloyds

we were not talking about total returns - if you did that then you would probably have to add getting on for £2 in dividends just from the last 20 years that dividend payments were made.

we were talking about the share price which is currently about 20p off of the Jan 2022 level. It is not at a 10 year high as you said.

the current forward dividend yield is already very attractive compared with the ftse 100 average and indeed attractive against cash returns., but as yet is not propelling Lloyds to a higher valuation due to current uncertainties that the market is concerned about.

It is time of market apprehension that may give an investor the best longer term opportunities

having fewer shares on the market means that the amount of money allocated to dividends go to those fewer shares, enabling a higher payment per share.

A dividend paid per share can be progressive even with flat profits, if the number of shares is reduced.

You can work out yourself what the current share price would be with that many additional shares ,with the current market valuation of Lloyds.

3i Group at yet another all time - I hope that their decision to have over half the fund invested in just one business doesn't backfire (it has been the main driver so far)

How times flies - I had only just realised that super deduction (130%) had ended.

The super deduction though has been superseded by 'full expense' 100%
