HFEL IS AN INCOME FUND - there would be no need to cut the current level unless the dividend reserve is depleted and the normal income stream does not cover the dividend.

Share prices go up with a buyback when the market does not reduce the market cap (valuation) of a business.

The market determines the valuation of Lloyds on a daily basis.

Incomes/state pensions have also gone up greatly and base rates are simply nearer to historic norms.

the media and political opposition need very little reason to criticise business when creating the dirty word 'profits' for their shareholders and some seem to think that additional money grabs are required on top of already high corporation taxes in order to benefit everyone else in society, even though others have not risked any of their own capital . In addition of course there is a further tax grab from after tax profits by way of possible capital gains or dividends income.

Yes the return on investment was that £4 Billion was spend on Lloyds shares which were then cancelled and thereby increasing a shareholders percentage ownership, and at the same time enabling future monies set aside for dividends for years to come to be shared between fewer shares. The market determines the valuation of Lloyds on a daily basis.
