All excess capital is due to be returned to shareholders by the end of 2024 - quite straightforward to understand for most . Total returns are benefiting from no longer having a lot of profits bring paid out on PPI.

Lloyds paid out about £22 Billion in PPI - that sort of money is now available to shareholders over a similar time frame as the PPI spend, if the BOD's decide not to use it on acquisitions.

There was not £billions of surpluses from money set aside for PPI. Indeed the 2019 buyback programme had to be cut short because of unexpected extra PPI provisions. Monies from profits that had been paid out on PPI for a number of years, have since those payments finished, been redirected back to shareholders.

All that is regarded as excess capital by the BOD is due to be returned to shareholders by the end of 2024.

No restoration in confidence is required on my part - I am confident that Lloyds will be able to afford double digit returns to shareholders based on the current price for years to come. The market determines the capitalisation level of Lloyds on a daily basis, which if not lowered will results in an increases in price per share with continuation of buyback programmes.

I would be more than happy if Lloyds were simply able to maintain the current level of profitability - increases in profits in future years would simply be an added bonus.

did you not know that certain decisions are made with the publishing of full year results -it would be silly to ask about such things as the level of a final dividend or whether or not there will be a 'special' and the funding level of any 2024 buyback programme, and expect a precise answer now don't you think?

the good of a juicy dividend without an increase in share price is that you can purchase more shares with it at attractive levels - I think you will find that this compounding would be very beneficial in the long run.

the sole purpose of share buybacks for cancellation is to reduce share capital.

The market determines the value (market cap) on a daily basis.

Without buybacks there would currently be 12,379,829,989 more shares on the market.

Even someone purchasing LBG in Jan 2009 at the current price with dividends reinvested in more Lloyds shares would have been more than PROTECTED FROM INFLATION - the same cannot be said for cash. A smart investor of course could have made a very good return on top of just a single buy and hold with further purchases and sales.

Loaded up more at about 27p on the 6th October - hopefully the long awaited recovery is well under way.

On this board, on a day of a very good uptick in share price - currently up 8%

You, having made purchases at about the same prices have ended up having very nearly the same average as me, with my purchases varying between higher levels and 69p. Good to have secured a high yield income for as long as it's held.

As at the end of March net assets were 63.4 Billion euro according to the London stock exchange site

Market cap now at not much more than 8 years worth of current level of dividends - crazy
