RE: Chandigarh - April 2018 ...........27 Apr 2018 15:01
Hello Chianti,
EESL, have impressive numbers initially, for smart metering. But they need to be translated into successful installations.
In India, CyanConnode have had orders for the mid-20,000's, of smart meters. And we all know how long, initially, the early projects took to install. Although I believe I have read somewhere, or have heard it in a presentation, that the Genus project, for UGVCL, is ahead of original expectations.
It is normal for the Systems Integration and the meters, to be installed at the same time. And as we have been informed, " Once an order has been received from a customer, the project continues through a series of Site Acceptance Test's ( SAT's,) with increasing deployment volumes and complexity. Successful SAT's have been delivered by the Team, in multiple territories, during Q1 2018. SAT's have also been delivered in territories where orders had been received prior to 2018, such as Iran and Bangladesh."
Whether this SAT testing is something that the CyanConnode consortia, carry out/adhere to, as a normal procedure for them, or whether it will be a general requirement carried out by other contractors/meter manufacturers/solution providers, that it would be beneficial that they adhere too, remains to be seen.
But even with the complexity of the SAT testing, the Genus project in which CyanConnode are involved, for UGVCL, which is approximately the same number of smart meters as Mysore, seems to be being installed at a faster pace.
So valuable lessons will have been learned, over the last 2/3 years.
Good luck.
LTI.
