I suppose I'm coming at it from a slightly different perspective as I only bought in, in two large chunks, following the big post-results drop. Even then though, the share price has receded further still since I bought in. I see this as a slam dunk recovery play however, so have no problem with the short-term volatility. I know this sector reasonably well and think we should see a decent return here, even if no takeover bid is forthcoming soon. The incoming CEO has a superb pedigree and his appointment has (in my view) justified my investment decision.

Couldn't agree more oldtimer. My average is only about 45p here but even that seems miles off. I'd need to see some material improvement here before committing further funds.

I did the same, albeit getting in just under 100p. I have two recovery plays running at the moment and both seem to have hit a floor and completely stopped moving! Fingers crossed for some near-term activity here as I don't really see it as one of my long term holds.

There hasn't been much price movement for the last couple of days. It seems to have found its home in the low 220's. Like you I'm very curious to see what happens next. I wouldn't be at all surprised to see a prolonged stagnation from this point. The new CEO's arrival should make a difference, but not for a good while yet.

Congrats to all who held on here, on breaking the �20 mark. Absolutely incredible. I got out at what I thought at the time was a fantastic profit, only to see it double in value again since then! The 52 week low here is just over 5 quid and today it almost hit 21! Really quite impressive.

The takeover bid could well still occur and I agree that HCA would be an interesting alternative to Mediclinic. HCA basically runs the London hospital market but has virtually no presence outside the M25; Spire would be a natural theoretical fit. I've been in and out here a couple of times since the float, but like TLWilliams I have now bought this as a recovery play. Let's wait and see what happens over the next few weeks, prior to the new CEO's arrival.

Really excellent appointment. Oasis was built in to a great business and then sold to Bupa for a huge multiple. This is good news for shareholders.

A £4.3m buy?! That strikes me as pretty difficult to believe. Mind you, the same applies to a sell I suppose. Will be interesting to see what happens with that. It should have been a price-mover either way, more than it seems to have been.

I disagree on the London front, aussiegold. The market is already heavily saturated, with HCA and the three or four large standalone independent hospitals all reporting tough market conditions due to a drop-off in patients visiting from the Middle East, amongst other things. Schoen and Cleveland Clinic are also opening hospitals in London in the next few years. The cost barriers to entry are significant and it already looks as though there might be too many operators servicing the market. Compare that to Milton Keynes where you have a huge commuter population and virtually no independent hospital provision. I'd say Spire has taken exactly the right decision. Bought another chunk this morning as planned. I think this is a huge takeover target at this price.

Interim chief executive Simon Gordon told the publication that London property prices, business rates and drop in health tourism to the capital had contributed to the decision. “Increasingly people’s health problems are being dealt with in their domestic market, particularly the Middle East,” he said" This is absolutely, 100% the correct decision in my opinion. The big London hospitals are struggling as it is due to the big drop-off in Middle East revenue. No need for Spire to be pouring money in to this just to be able to say that they're in London. Good move.
