It was mentioned yesterday ( Starbright ? ) that the dilution created by new shares would also dilute the short in terms of percentage - so it may just be a percentage reduction rather than an absolute reduction - Obviously it would be nice if it was the latter.

Just catching up with these posts. Absolutely no problem with that guy Culpepper's personal trading decisions, but it did make me chuckle that he's made about 5000 comments, mainly on GGP, only for it to climax with him being in and out of GGP in about 30 seconds. He probably kept his socks on throughout.

I have been arguing with myself about this for about a week.

So, there are many more shares to flood on the market. Thus obviously there will be lots of sells tomorrow as soon as those shares are available. But no Loggy! Those new shares are predominantly in the hands of LTHs and they won't be selling - plus many could have sold already and made a decent percentage. Hang on Logbot, what if some decide that they want to wait until they physically in receipt of the shares and sell them - or some are pre-empting others selling and want to sell first!! Yes but Loggy there are lots of buyers waiting in the wings too, we know that! Logbot what *are* you thinking- the sheer number of extra shares is surely going to make the ratio of sells to buys in the sellers favour and thus lower the price! But Loggy people will immediately spot a bargain if the price is driven down, knowing that investors are willing to pay 7.2p just this week - and GDXJ will buy megatons because the new market cap will be sky high - etc etc ad infinitim -

Chartists always have a caveat. IF it goes above the 'resistance' then it'll go up but IF it goes below the 'support' it will go down. So effectively if it goes up it will go up and if it goes down it will go down. And then some lines can be drawn to show what just happened.

What has really happened is that GGP have bought a gold mine and have bought back the rest of another gold mine - which makes two gold mines. They only started with 30% of one gold mine so they've now got over 6.6 times the number of gold mines they started with. If you want to draw a picture of that please go ahead.

If ActuaRay are genuinely still shorting I would love to see their rationale....

New shares - a good proportion will hold. There will be plenty of sells, but anyone who *does* want to sell and currently holds more than they are going to be allocated has had quite an opportunity to do so ahead of time for a 33% profit before replenishing their holding on 1st October. I do think the price will go down, but I don't understand the theory / logic behind it going below the offer price. We shall see I guess. For me, I'm the happiest I've been with my holding for quite some time - it's gone back into the "add" list.
