The FTSE has been consistently over 7000 in the last nine months. It's not a bull market over that period is it. As I said earlier, people here know the risks. There are positives as well as negatives. This is not Flybe. It does need to ensure it's debt is managed, and that's always been my main concern, and Macro factors will affect many companies. But such is life. Only invest what you can afford to lose and do research. Skier, which shares would you invest in?

Am I right in thinking NC have first right of refusal on Scally?
If this is the case, in my view I'd say NC have JV'd with Antipa to hedge - any big discoveries and they can pounce properly. But with SC I'm guessing they wouldn't need to do this as there is already a basic agreement. Please tell me if I'm i'm wrong! Because of this I would imagine from an NC point of view they would concentrate on HAV and watch GGP drill Scally with GGP money and they would react only if necessary.

HH, I've always thought it would be better to pay off more debt whilst still maintaining a smaller div but that's just my view.

Skier, this has fallen but you know very well that it went XD today. I agree it's not having a good run anyway but it is a volatile share. It makes money, currently pays dividends, is paying back debt, but also most investors know the risks here.

Yes - very roughly if it is 3.10 @ close on Wed then you'd expect 10%ish off - I think this may be an opportunity - this is a higher risk share than many FTSE 100 companies but I don't think things are bleak.

I contemplated top slicing some SLP yesterday to redirect elsewhere, as it appeared been less affected than other shares during this turmoil. How I wish I'd done that now! Still, this will all sort itself out - just don't know how long it will take. I would guess down the line most stocks will pretty much recover, but with some taking longer than others ( travel industry shares one example? )

Meant to ask Silican Kan - genuine question - if you've valued GGP at 3.18, then it's a Strong Sell as it's overpriced by 50% ?

What's good is the way that this is unfolding. While we wait ( for those that are ) for an MRE, the value is "taking shape" rather than being revealed in one go. This gives many opportunities for people to decide what they think this could or could not achieve. Likewise, and again before MRE, loads of other results, drilling etc. So for me it's a hold and wait and see.

I can't work out whether the nation's productivity would increase if we got bought out as everyone would stop reading this and actually do some work - on the other hand everyone may just quit work instead, thus negating any potential productivity gains.
