Some interesting stuff out there about the Expedia CEO recently not ruling out a closer collaboration/take over of TCG. That could get very interesting if Fosun is also interested. Any thoughts?

Awful update this morning. Looking at the fundamentals, and assuming close to normal trading during the winter season, I would say that this is the time to come in or average down, as I believe a 23% drop is over done.

I'm surprised at the negative attention on this story. It's clear that TCG is attempting to put pressure on the powers that be to sort these details out before the crunch point next year and also demonstrates that TCG is sensibly preparing for the worst in case this happens. Both of these actions are a demonstration of the right people doing the right things, and reflect positively on the business. Surely the smart money can see that?

LONDON (Reuters) - Canada’s Air Transat (TRZ.TO) could expand a partnership deal with the airline arm of British tourism group Thomas Cook (TCG.L) to include codesharing and interlining, the boss of the Canadian carrier said.

Possibly a welcome expansion of one of the more profitable arms of the business.

Watched this from a distance and almost bought earlier in the year. Pure luck to have escaped.

Anyone who's lost out has my sympathy for what it's worth. It's taught me a valuable lesson about the risk level to associate with AIM companies. How this big a hole could have been missed by an audit a year ago just beggars belief, unless serious fraud was being conducted. Hope nobody has lost too much.

Another reason for the massive drop was the trading update on losses due to House of Fraser last month.

Looks like some real investment is being ploughed into HofF now with the purchase of the Glasgow freehold reported today. So, if they're genuinely going to be the "Harrods of the high street", there'll need to stock the luxury brands. I expect a boost to Mulberry on the back of this.

Looks like we have our answer. Looked promising up to 125p on the back of an RNS hinting at good performance and strategy, but being clobbered down again by the shorts. Going to be a lot tougher for them to do that for a good set of interim results in November. Keep taking the 6%.

If we don't get a break in the ranks soon, the shorts must be softening this up for a purchaser looking to make a low ball offer early next year. I'm struggling to think of another sensible explanation, considering the alternatives out there, for this to be the most shorted company. If that's the case, all we need to do is hold on and keep taking the 6%. Nice problem to have.

In the meantime, I wouldn't be shocked to see CAKE doing better by the end of the week.

Same here, averaging down today. If we believe the company is fundamentally sound but undergoing a difficult period, then 50p feels cheap enough. GLA

Same here. Found the local store to be very busy last week, enthusiastic and helpful staff, everything well stocked and the food is cheaper here than Amazon when you're on the VIP scheme. If in the medium term the proposed new taxes are imposed on the likes of Amazon, I can only see this improving.

Glass half full, perhaps this is a welcome sign of modernisation and focus on a new higher margin, tech savvie and more sophisticated target market. Would be nice to see something from TCG soon on what they're doing to target online growth.

I was thinking the same thing. Thomas Cook acted impeccably as soon as the Egypt incident started to unfold by removing all the guests, the only operator to do so, but the media just reported negatively. This was a wasted opportunity by the PR team to highlight the benefits of being with a reputable tour operator. As for the latest childish stuff about the Cook’s Club aircraft livery spelling something rude when the door opens, even with the old adage of all publicity being good publicity, it’s another own goal the company could do without. Let’s hope they get their act together from here on!

I'm with Warren Buffet on this one. If Mr Market is giving you a bargain, take it before he wises up. It's not often I feel I have access to a crystal ball, but on this one I'm certain of a good return on my investment, just may have to exercise a little patience for the rest of the world to catch up.
