On basis of very quick look. Apoptosis is about a kind of natural cell death via genetic programming. Discussion around use of Affimers binding to certain anti-apoptotic proteins (eg MCL) involved in cancers.
One clear take is the ‘design-for-purpose’ capability inherent in Affimers.
Need to print the document and read very slowly and carefully – but my impression is ‘like wow’, OMG, etc. I really suspect that this could be huge – real ‘frontiers of science stuff’!

Interesting discussion on ‘false positives’, testing generally and Covid stats on BBC R4 More-or-Less (09:00, use the BBC Sounds app). Won’t attempt to summarise, but definitely worth a listen to first 15 mins – starts with hospital admissions, deaths, etc. and goes on to cover testing. Does seem to be huge confusion, mainly among politicians and media, but also in govt ‘expert’ community. Guess it would really help if we were simply able to say “no false positives” because we have 100% Specificity through Affimer binding?

The test strip shown on DerbyshireLive news link is badged ‘COVID-19 Antigen’ and their director, David Campbell, is quoted as saying - “We are launching two fast and very easy to use, swab antigen tests. The first one is a visual read test (much like a pregnancy test,) which can be used and read without any laboratory equipment, making it perfect for screening in the community. The second test uses a handheld reader, which allows us to increase the sensitivity of the test even further”.

So who are the ‘key partners’? Are they part of Condor? How will they distribute?
Up to now they have IgM and IgC antibody tests with (claimed) Sensitivity of 96.55% and Specificity of 99.67% based on an evaluation by Guy’s and St. Thomas NHS.

I cannot see Antigen tests on their website. But, apparently, 1m per week by November?
While this volume should not trouble Avacta too much, nevertheless, definitely one for further research and watching closely.

This is not good news, but remember we have ‘neutralising Affimers’.

Bit of a slow start. Talks about the (uncontrolled) study in Wuhan earlier this year. Planning 150 patient phase 2 trial in Canada. Looking for this to enable EUA from FDA and Health Canada. Also have lower dose formulation for prevention – as opposed to treatment of those already infected with standard formulation.
Continues, slowly, talking about the co. history and product. ‘Cloning technology’ to create the ‘purest form’ of IFNa2b quite interesting though. Interviewer obviously bored, just looked at his watch at this point! Comparing Covid-19 to HIV to make the point that a ‘****tail’ of treatments required – really! He had previously mentioned Remdesivir, maybe looking to Gilead?
