The next focusIR Investor Webinar takes places on 14th May with guest speakers from Blue Whale Growth Fund, Taseko Mines, Kavango Resources and CQS Natural Resources fund. Please register here.
I think I originally bought in about 15p. I have bought more since, and I guess averaged down over the last two years. I will be holding this for the very long term in line with Rasmus' comment below.
A question for people in longer than me though; what drove the spike to 18p in March 17? Shocking to think where we are now, based on all the results - when there had only been one hole drilled at 18p!
Cracking RNS. Nice to see our investment underpinned as it were. Zanmantate - a terrible forecast by yourself, how could you be so far off... "£4.28m or just over 12p per share.". I jest of course :)
The only thing missing from this and the last RNS, in my view, is the next plans for LS. Are Ascendant currently drilling (well, funding it), or are they deciding where to drill, or maybe agreeing next steps/approach? It would be great to know this, so we will have an expectation of the next news flow.
Most small caps are beloved by traders, and some must have been aware of the good RNS we were expecting, so I imagine they bought in simply to sell into the rise (when it came). That's their decision, but it's a pity they don't look into the full story.
Personally, I don't trade this share as I find the volumes you can buy sell are negligible most of the time (I use HL for my shares).
I'm here for the long haul, and have near 1% of shares, which I imagine is less than some of the LTHs here!
I'll continue patiently waiting for both RNSs! It's also nice to see the price finding stability.
If our SP increased to 50p, that would still value the company at just £17.5m. We are all aware of the value of the agreement with Ascendant, which has a further £6m in cash coming to us if they decide to increase their holding to 80%. I doubt it will take anywhere near the full 54months to decide if they wish to do this. It would also be interesting to know more about Cap Energy's progress, does anyone know anymore than was briefly mentioned in the recent interview on proactive?
Ascendant's latest presentation also mentions the resource update is expected in Jan. So we don't really have control over that being late, but I would have expected our NAV by last Thursday.
Anyway, like everyone else, expecting very good news here - and hopefully both pieces will be with us shortly.
P.S I particularly like slide 18 on Ascendant's presentation, where is shows the LS area and give's a good indication of the potential size.
"Remember that Ascendant Resources only bought into Recorp, which was wholly owned by THC.. THC still retain a chunk of LS independent of Redcorp. Thus MAFL own 49% of that chunk outright. I think is the 15% from the Portuguese Gov"
I'm afraid this confuses me. I thought that, in time and as per options, Asend will own 80% leaving THC with 20%. As MAFL own 49% of THC that leaves a long-run carry over of c.10%. But, along with others, I'm not sure what THC has done for their 51% share as MAFL appear to fund everything it; THC looks like a shell holding company.
Only a few more working days and we should hopefully have our belated update.
My only experience of a suspension before was CTAG (luckily I wasn't in, but a colleague was) and that ended in a right debacle. I'm a little more hopeful this time around!
I'm afraid (maybe for the first time) I tend to agree with Wizard. If there were suitors in line to purchase LS then we would have been notified by RNS (especially if an offer was received). I imagine some simple accounting issue with THC that they are slow at addressing.
I'm looking forward to the update, when released, providing us with more colour regarding the connection with THC and the plans for sale progression.
It's a strange one. It's so quiet here...
I find it hard to believe that MAFL's market cap is currently just £2.8m. Hopefully the annual report, which came out end-June last year, will be out imminently and put us on our way back up.
Surely they will want to get this out before the end of the month? So three more WD. It feels like something is going on, but I have no idea what, which is why it would be good to have a little more detail in the RNS for the investors regarding next strategic steps. I'm confident that the resource increase is there (as I think we all are); but I'd like to know what the steps are for a sale, have there been interested parties, has the data room been utilised, and something along the lines of "we view this as a multi-million asset" (which I don't think is sale-sensitive info as there isn't a specific figure, but would call of the naysayers here that pop up from time-to-time). I hope everyone is having an enjoyable week.
I tend to agree, he has an impressive CV (had a little linkedIn gander, as one does). 6 years as a Mining Equities Director at HSBC will no doubt prove useful - but interestingly, before that, he worked in Equity Sales....
