Are The Criticisms Of B P fair ..4 Feb 2021 22:22
There are a messages here criticizing B P and the policies pursed by the C E O ..This is supposed to be the reason behind the poor share price performance ..But is this fair?? ...Well the only way this can be judged is comparing like with like in the same sector ...When comparing B P to Shell /Tullow/ Premier this is a basic guide to performance ...The share price increase over 3 months is B P sub 28% ..Shell sub 30 % ..Tullow sub 59 % ... Premier ..sub 73 % ....But held over a one year position the results are different ..A share price decrease for B P sub 47 %.. Shell sub 38 % .,.. Tullow sub 42 % ... Premier sub 81 % ......Off course 2 are large cap and 2 smaller cap companies which are compared.. but how well or badly the B P Share price had preformed against other oil companies basically depends on the time scale. ..B P is just slightly behind Shell over 3 months but over one year the performance of the share is well within the sector ....The conclusion that can be drawn is nothing particular for or against BP but rather what the investor sentiment has been for the energy sector in general over the last 12 months ...
