Could it be that the main holders have got other eggs in their baskets to keep them busy and aren't giving as much thought to GPX as they otherwise would?

Owl was the only half concrete piece of information about CPP's current products that I recall finding in its annual report. However, that info having been provided a few months ago, it would have almost certainly been factored in the current SP a while ago so Owl would now only help the SP further if it were linked to concrete sales / profit figures or supply contract announcements. I.e. I believe it is primarily concrete bottom line info, (unlikely) VVOP lifting or formal contract signatures that will make a difference. The rest will come across as noise IMO.

I got out a few months ago but am keeping a very close eye on this business. However, I honestly feel that what will allow this SP to fly up again is not particularly contentious... In the meantime, I'm making money on AST, and will be back on GENL after that. Depending on how events unfold in Syria, I may come back to GPX in 6-12 months' time. GL to all current holders.

Hence now the following is necessary for the SP to climb back up: - VVOP to be lifted a - real evidence of overseas new business success. Is it me, or there is nothing concrete whatsoever about how this business makes money abroad?

The main appeal of this share is the likelihood of takeover from China IMO.

I agree with the suggestion that the company is probably likely to experience a further set back at this stage... Though it will probably be temporarily. It just means people's hoped-for returns are likely to come 6 months to a year later than planned!

What would be the reason for that?! I get the 4p placement to determine it as a floor (and thank you Soleman1 for the suggested explanation!) but much above that, there is no reason for a further rise at present, no?

Any theories?

Got out right at 7.30p - stroke of luck before it went down further! I might go back whenever the situation in Syria improves, but based on the news, it looks like it will get worse before it gets better. Good luck to the current holders!

It's has become clear to me that the SP is primarily driven by hope for peace. The latest news make it less likely in the medium term (I.e. within the next 5 years or so.), even more so as Daesh has been losing sufficient power over there for the rest of the world not to be as concerned with threats coming out of Syria compared to Lybia which has become a growing source of Daesh operatives from what I've read in the news. - I'm not saying that Syria is sorted, just that countries that don't want to spend more money than is absolutely necessary on military and other foreign intervention may not view Syria as the main priority as before, even though its people are no doubt still suffering. I therefore fear that medium term returns on this share are getting less and less likely. It's becoming even more of a long-term play. Any other thoughts?

In4cedros - thank you for answering my question. I had not realised that there was a major Russian investor (more evidence that my depth of research on this company has been limited) and the oil for food suggestion was therefore a smart one in the circumstances. You have made the political element of discussing this share much clearer to me, which must explain why this board is relatively quiet!
