Those of us who like reading the detail in the Annual Report will no doubt find Notes 15 and 16 re Mine Development significant - an addition of £21.1m of costs were capitalised in the year bringing the total £35.5m. Note the words "Commercial viability":
Commentary from GGP: "Other than acquisition costs, exploration and evaluation expenditure incurred on licences where the commercial viability of extracting the mineral resource has not yet been established is generally expensed when incurred.
Once the commercial viability of extracting the mineral resource is demonstrable (at which point, the Group considers it probable that economic benefits will be realised), the Group capitalises any further evaluation costs incurred. These costs are classified as mine development".
At 5m/day projected to hit the ore body September 2023 (@7m/day - June 2023)

Record, daily average rates of advancement were recently achieved reflecting the transition to drill and blasting of the development face in advancing the exploration decline.
RNS 27 October: Decline reported as advancing 231 metres since the 8 September update (total 916 metres as at 12 October). 231m/43 days = 5.4 metres/day
RNS 8 September: Decline reported as advancing 196 metres since the 21 July update (total 685 metres as at 31 August). 196m/41 days = 4.8 metres/day
So now breaking records on the decline front as well as the drilling front. So another 70+m since 12 October at the same rate would bring us up to nearly 1,000m at today's date.
Good news on all fronts.

SD seems comfortable with the deferred FS given the expanded resource expected knocking way into touch the half **** out of date data hitherto.
Sandeep even appears to be coming into line. GGP expect to be fully funded so sitting pretty.
New mineralised system. Wowee as SD would say.
Look at the depths of the grades being reported. Many over 2,000m (true depths are less).
What's not to like. Expect to hear a SD interview later. But all good, we are in safe hands.

SaS - ok but look at the reason why the FS is being deferred. It's because they want to assess value added options.
What I would now like to see is an updated MRE given the delay into next year. Have a look at page 61 of the Newcrest report. The August MRE is just a tiny part of the mineralised system now.
Interesting to note Condor Gold RNS today where their FS talks about a 602,000 oz mine using a gold price of $1,600 per oz and a discount rate of 5%.
That's reasonably realistic but to make it even more appealing they also have calculated the NPV using a POG of $2,000 per oz. Big difference.
Contrast that with Greatland's expected FS. I cannot in any scenario see Newcrest mentioning $2000/oz calculations for Havieron. Actually I would be surprised to see $1,600/oz calculations given the current POG and Newcrest's very cautious figures as witnessed in their recent annual reports.
I would also settle for a discount factor of 5% given the recent price increases around the world. Shame GGP is not in control of the sums. Even still Havieron has a lot more to offer than Condor. And a far better jurisdiction.
Hi Redirons - well we know what the official Newcrest line was re their not taking the 5% ie it did not meet their financial return parameters and I'm sure you're right that their shareholders wanted dividends (very shortsighted if true). But it still puzzles me, when Sandeep Biswas was asked about liquidity following their annual report, why they didn't bid $60m (or for that matter take up SD's offer of $85m to buy back 5%) given they have access to $2.4 billion liquidity. Very strange and it has been equally baffling to SD (publicly at least).
Thanks Dip - great stuff as always

Among the other notable achievements this year Greatland have accelerated the publication of their annual results - this year it is scheduled for 2 November, last year 11 November. Year end is 30 June.
That is certainly a step in the right direction and it comes about from an expanded management team. I am sure they can improve further next year but more timely reporting is very much welcomed.
It also reduces the need for so many statements along the lines of "subsequent to the end of the financial year......" and gives shareholders earlier sight of the state of the financial health of the company.

Last official update was in RNS 8 September suggesting a big improvement in the weekly advance, now touching almost 5 metres a day:
"Early Works improvements: Construction activities are progressing including:
An exploration decline advance of 685 metres as at 31 August 2022
196 metres advanced since the last report on 21 July 2022;
Both monthly and weekly development records were set during August reflecting the transition to full face drill and blast in advancing the exploration decline along with improved geotechnical conditions".

Ham123 - with what's going on in Ukraine please don't mention pressing the button!
SpreadthatRisk - the next drill results are those which Newcrest release with their September quarterlies on 27 October. Link below:

Dip - that list brings Tiers to my eyes!
SaS - I filtered him months ago; such a peaceful place without the background noise.
Certainly on a momentous day like today I am in a celebratory mood - no time for negativity.
Well done all genuine holders. We have deserved this day after putting up with a load of hostile comments for a year or more.; the worm has finally turned I believe.
