I think lifting of restrictions will help TSCO. I think it will be after Easter though before we have all the hospitality sector open and at best late summer for holidays. Lots of Brits staying in the UK. Also Booker will be supplying the hospitality sector which should help with revenue.

No doubt those that have sold or will be selling in the very near future. I think by the end of the month investors will have a better informed opinion as to whether or not the SD was the best strategy.

Quite right. Not many high yielding companies on the footsie if the banks continue to withhold dividends due to government guidance. Pension funds looking at covering annuities.

Not forgetting with less shares in issue, so earnings per share will be better and the likelihood of a dividend increase reflecting the consolidation ratio. I would be disappointed if the pay-out was less than 10p per share.

Many are ignoring the improved fundamentals now that there has been this consolidation. In my opinion many investors would have been happier if the company embarked on a share buyback strategy with the sale of asset money. Not realising that they would be buying at a range much higher than it is today.
The company has reduced liquidity, improved gearing, re negotiated loan rates, reduced pension costs whilst adapting to the pandemic and pressures of online orders.
Many new posters appearing last week and this that are disappointed that they didn’t get a free lunch.
Hopefully traders drop off one by one being replaced with investors who see value in uncertain times.

You will get the price the market is trading at when you purchase. Not backdated. If you buy on the 26th you will get that day's price at that time.
I calculated my dividend on Friday and bought the equivalent number of shares at 2.37 but have a longer-term view than many here.

Fully understand some investors frustration if they bought circa 240 but I also think many are taking short-term views. Assuming the yield is the same as last year then the division will be into less number of shares. Additionally what was discussed and passed at last weeks GM was an option to buy their own shares.
The sp has been held in a tight channel for the last few weeks to facilitate this SD so private investors should relax and either move on stay invested and hopefully enjoy a CG and their well covered dividend.

I would be very frustrated if I had waited until today to sell. Bought a final tranche now with the cash I will be getting later this month, 26th from memory. Happy to just average below 230 and of course a nice dividend later in the year.

Just popped a nice bottle of Merlot in the shopping trolley for the current Mrs leas to enjoy over the weekend. May just call into my local filling station on the way home to pick up some flowers. :)

Spindler it does also depend on your average price. It is the traders that will be taking the risk. The investor buying last year when the sp was in the low 200s have the breathing space to make an informed decision next week. Buying in the last few weeks has always been a gamble.

that's not really the full picture. It may test the lows post XD and equally it may test £3. Pension costs will be reduced, interest on loans reduced. Online capacity increased significantly over the pandemic. The consolidation is immaterial as the reduced number of shares reflects the dividend payment. Arguably for many investors not a good strategy due to the tax implications. Reduced liquidity of the shares will benefit the company and it's shareholders as the yield from profits will be divided up into a lower number of shares. EPS will also be much better.
Of course there may be wider influences that affect the sp direction in the coming months, the markets generally across the globe are at record highs when we are in the midst of a pandemic. So lots of potential 'banana skins' but as the restrictions have highlighted, we all need to eat and TSCO is well placed as a defensive investment.
I know the SD has caused much confusion but I don't think any investor thought that the 51p was really a giveaway.

Cannot understand why Schroders would seek to reduce here but hold over at TSCO. First of all, they are getting a poor price for their shares which will only reduce if their decision to sell forced them out of the ftse 100.
Struggling to find weakness other than trying to keep up to speed with online deliveries. Costs for making their stores Covid safe is balanced with increased footfall with restrictions.
Reminds me of PETS a couple of years ago when the sp was around 120p. No logic.
