Spindler, TSCO Investment Bank are compelled to work in the interests of the company and are regulated. I am sure the out going FCO is experienced enough to understand the advantage and disadvantages of paying a SD to it’s shareholders.
Before the GM investors can choose to stay or sell like yourself and avoid any tax obligations. Some will have their investment isa wrapped. Some may have a very good average and want to see how it plays out.
My point being that selling is not the only option for all invested here. I will review my position post consolidation as the fundamentals change.

Spindler you may be right. Don't think this strategy has been thought out in the works canteen though as the BoD's have been enjoying a Costa Coffee. The company would have taken advice from the brokers and I guess with borrowing being so cheap that paying down debt was not seen as the way forward.
I'm sure investors will make the decision to buy or sell based on their average price paid and personal circumstances. Even if the sp remained the same then this would be yielding over 4% for me.
I think I will reserve my opinion on whether or not it was a good strategy to pay a dividend later on in the year. All the very best with your other investments.

That was my plan but also contemplating buying prior to the 11th as I can see those investors, private and institutional wanting to buy in without tax implications. A difficulty one really. Market sentiment will also play its part of course.

See the newsfeed. What it doesn’t take into account is the much improved EPS post consolidation. Danger for those investors waiting until after the 11th is the price moves swiftly north. I will be adding more if it falls below 240p

You have to be on the shareholder register on the 11th Feb. The dividend payment is on or around the 26th Feb

Not invested but my understanding is the shares are now absorbed and you are able to buy and sell. What really surprises me is that those investors cannot answer the simple question.

If you’re looking short term then it is a gamble holding if buying at this level. (Those liable to pay tax) You would have to hope the sp climbs closer to 2.60.
However, if you are a little forward thinking then buying at this level could be prudent, especially with market sentiment and the pandemic.
TSCO is restructuring debt, reducing pension costs and geared up online and home delivery. Booker will also benefit when hospitality opens up again. Clearly from selling a loss making business in Asia and Poland. Also the GM meeting it is proposed that TSCO can purchase their own shares.
The company are clearly cutting outgoings and looking a little ‘leaner and meaner’
Reduced number of shares after consolidation and a better EPS. Also with a healthy dividend institutions will be looking to invest in ftse companies that will cover their annuity costs.

fwiw, I think the sp is being held back on the run up to the GM and then once consolidation occurs the instructions that are are not wanting the tax headache will buy in heavily lifting the price closer to £3.
Normally wrong but just my thoughts.

Nothing better than sucking in the naive by a good old fashioned takeover chat.
However, on this occasion I heard the same rumour last night down at my local pub ;)

My greed got the better of me. Wider markets look overpriced which is causing me a little uncertainty. Today’s close with J2 speaks volumes.

Restructuring debt. Further steps to reduce outgoings.

I think a lot of the larger hotels in Europe will be considering whether or not to open. Not sure what the start up costs will be before they may a profit but I cannot see a quiet season making it viable for them. Rentals and small hotels should be ok I guess if travel restrictions ease.
That said, the market id forward thinking and positive news certainly moves the sp up faster than it falls.

Have to say I was a little surprised to see the sp up during the first hours trading. Despite the company being a defensive investment it is being caught up in the market selloff.

I was not predicting the sp to drop as low as £10 but that was the price I sold at after buying at £1.98. I am hoping to get back in as close to that as possible but waiting a little longer as I think the markets are overvalued. If that price is under £12 then great but market sentiment is making most shares volatile.

Have to take my hat off to you. You’ve benn calling it right for months now. You did predict that the overvaluation of the US markets will hit other bourses.
Just hope your low prediction doesn’t materialise.

I originally bought and sold J2 banking a very good profit. The company is imo the best positioned travel company to recover (and some) when overseas holidays begin.
Despite the sp being down today, it has shown some resilience but like you hoping to get as Clise to £10 as possible. If not then such is life.
My understanding is the CCFF is still untouched and hopefully that will remain the same as negative news turns positive.
