Another thing of note that has come out of this pandemic is the online business model. Previous to this some analysts had concerns about the viability of some of the stores that had aggressive pricing from other European retailers.
I have since read that opinion has now changed and the need to build supply hubs for online demand increases is not necessarily the correct strategy. They have found that larger stores within the community have the capacity to meet that demand and food is reaching the customer that is fresh and without many errors.
Maybe a biased view but TSCO seems to have geared up almost seamlessly to meet demand.
Getting your groceries via Uber in non cold refrigerated vans by non vetted employees does not really do it for me, but operating costs from rivals will have to increase if they want any of the market share.

One of the Asian businesses was profit making. Not sure if the figures. Savings from selling off if the mortgage book should help the banking arm but that could still be a bit of a concern to the institutions.
Booker should be very busy when the hospitality sector opens and more people in the uk opt for a ‘staycation’
One thing for sure, more positives than negatives.

Approximately 20% less shares in circulation. Dividend well covered. 2 loss making businesses sold and pension costs lower.
Strong argument for an increase in my opinion. Only question is how long the cost savings take to show on the balance sheet.

I can understand the rationale of moving out of one sector into another but as you point out MRW?
I have to say I was tempted to sell TSCO before SD and buy MRW but the pending relegation at the time convinced me to stay with my strategy.
I am not trading this so despite the day to day sp movement I will see if it was the right decision in 5 yrs. if the yield covers 25% if my capital investment then I will be happy.
I know the risks but I certainly won’t be blaming the BoDs or anyone else if it doesn’t work out.

My view institutions that reduced on the run up to the SD in order to avoid tax duties are now returning. The annual yield will be well covered and attractive to funds looking at covering some of their annuity obligations. My current average is now 232 after buying my last tranche just prior to the company going XD.
I was hoping for the sp to stay sub 220 to bring my average down but my next buy will be my 3rd and final investment here.
TSCO in a much better place now than it was a couple of years ago and the management protecting their market share whilst increasing online capacity.

Maybe institutions that sold in order to avoid tax on the SD are buying back. One thing for certain, they will try and buy back at a price lower than they sold at.

I think many investors getting caught up in the SD missed the other topics on the agenda at the GM. One of them being voting for buying their own shares back.
Ordinary trades are going through, majority being purchases but the algo trades are manipulating the price lower. You have to ask yourself why they are there. Surprised we have not any holdings RNS in the last couple of weeks.

I'm with Jarvis, all dividend owed payed. Also made a purchase on the Friday afternoon before XD and that has been credited to my account.

Would be more comfortable if it was institution’s buying rather than pi’s. Maybe some think the current MC is in bargain territory. Let’s hope they have the patience for biotech companies.
Just my opinion but significant positive news is needed in the next 12 months otherwise as 2023 approaches IMM will need to raise funds.
That said, risk v reward looking good at this level.

Really? Currently just over 9p for the annul total payment. 20% consolidation. Surely an increase with fewer pieces of the pie to share out.

Just my opinion but I think the sp will rise as we approach the finals in April. I think investors have been focused too much on the dividend and consolidation. I have been pretty much neutral on that decision seeing the pros and cons but now a bit more certainty has developed. What you see is what you get now and that is a company that has it's dividend well covered and 20% less shares in circulation. Pension costs reduced too. Wish they could dispose of the banking asset which would help the balance sheet.
More retail will be opening soon reducing footfall in the stores but you could argue Booker will be ramping up their business supplying hospitality and TSCO online capacity is second to none as they adapted to the pandemic.
No reason why the yield won't increase or at worst stay the same and the payment made will be over 10p to reflect the reduced number of shares in circulation.
I think the wider market is the only risk now to the sp direction in the short term but any uncertainty caused by the SD is now firmly in the past.

Just a spectator here but in relation to your post I do see the sp settling in this range but the exodus of the short term punters has not been matched. In order to balance the sellers with the buyers the market has had to reduce the price by 20%.

I wont bore you with my tale of woes with a nominee account. I have been investing in the markets for about 40yrs. Made the mistake of switching from paper certificates by post to online 3 years ago. A nominee account run by SVS securities. I will never make the same mistake again.
I am not a trader so making a split second transaction is not so important but those thinking online trading is the future are very much mistaken. Eventually got all my money back from the administrators of SVS but a lot of patience and effort was needed.

Btw. my other dividend was issued directly into my bank account by TSCO the outstanding amount will be credited to my broker account.....

Just phoned my broker. They informed me that the dividend owed will be issued later today. They do NOT go off the settlement date but the purchase date. However, because TSCO will have referred to their share register on the close of the 12th and a crossover due to settlement would have occurred then the payment is delayed slightly.
Hope this makes sense and I am sure your broker will get many queries posing the same from other clients.
