Have to agree. Fresh produce at the German markets are stored without care. They are tasked to replenish displays within a timeframe but also covering checkouts. Their staff always seem stressed and rushed.

I see the share price is starting to climb back to the 240s as we approach the results next week. Could be some news in future dividends now that there are 20% fewer shares .

Yes the extra wage costs will be reflected in the balance sheet and hope the cost savings in other areas of the business this year helps to offset the additional staff needed.

Gearing costs towards improving online sales to meet capacity is now absorbed by the business. Also expected costs of building distribution hubs will no longer be a possibility as it is accepted that those larger stores have been the most efficient way of supplying customers.
I have to say having spent almost a year now in the U.K. I do think that if you’re a Clubcard holder and take advantages of their offers then TSCO beats the German competitors hands down.
Maybe a biased view but the quality of their fresh produce is much better at TSCO with a much better organic range.

From memory it did at one point exceed £4 as it was the go to defensive company when the market was in a period of correction. You also have to remember that up until the accounting scandal they were paying a healthy dividend in over 20 of those years.
If I had bought at 103p in 1995 and held throughout then as an investor I would be happy. By the way in 1995 I held Electronic Boutique which I originally bought at £0.002p and sold at £1.36p when they had evolved into GAME. I used the profits to pay off my mortgage and buy some HMV shares that went into administration not long after.
Taking the rough with the smooth. HMV at the time was paying a healthy dividend to attract investors to a struggling business. TSCO is one of the few ftse 100 companies that more than covers it's yield and seem to be in the process of selling off part of their retail businesses overseas that are struggling to either make a profit or indeed making a loss.
New CFO appointed which should see further cost cutting exercises and growth in the online business.
Last year analysts thought that the 4 large supermarkets will have to big start up costs in leasing or building super
hubs for online distribution but now concede supplying the demand is much more efficient supply customers straight from stock in the larger stores. This pandemic has convinced them this is the most efficient way of meeting the demand.

goinglarge has pretty much summed up TSCO but making the comparison to a company such as CINE is pointless. Every investor make a decision whether to buy or sell based on their financial position and personal circumstance.
My best return on investments over the years has been on the AIM but the excitement comes with the level of risk you take.

Thanks Baysil. Great post. Funds will also be looking at covering their annuity costs to their investors and any increase due to the reduction in shares or indeed any increase overall in the yield will make TSCO very attractive to them.

Finals is n a couple of weeks. No doubt some announcement then. Maybe a rise in the sp as we approach 14th April.
Outlook should be positive too, especially with staycations and house/garden parties increasing in popularity as we come out of lockdown.

Apologies eccles, but just clarifying that they were losing market share but that has now been reversed. Lidl and Aldi are continuing to build new stores in the UK and that may keep the pressure on but pricing and margins are now completely different.
Fundamentals have also changed. Less shares in issue which will be reflected in it's EPS. As an investor it is much better to look forward rather than dwell on the past. After all this is where our sp performance and yield will come from.

TSCO are not losing market share to Lidl or Aldi and if anything (ref Q3 trading update) they have increased sales.
You have a habit of posting inaccuracies and make yourself look like a bitter investor who has lost money through their own decision making.

The brothers are looking to raise between 1 and 1.2 billion from the sale of the logistics arm so going forward their employees will all be shop staff. Just my opinion but they will then be looking at selling off some of their property portfolio to developers and only keep the highly profitable stores and claw back some of the 5 billion they paid to buy the company.

My understanding was the court did not rule in favour pf the shop staff but conceded the point that they could pursue a claim if both roles were equal in skills. Maybe a LSE member who has knowledge of distribution could post their thoughts but I am sure that both parties could argue that their skill set is equal if not better.
No denying the implications financially could be high but it will be difficult for the Asda Staff to convince a judge to rule in their favour unless there is clear evidence that shop floor staff receive more training. As you said, this could take years to resolve and Asda have just been taken over by a syndicate headed by 2 brothers that will more than likely asset strip the company before it reaches and conclusion in the courts.

Lidl do have 'store pullers' and cheaper on some named brands but those brands are limited. Lidl provide masks but at a cost. Hand sanitisers are very rarely replenished and any staff on the shop floor are often too busy to assist customers looking for assistance. Toilets only available at some stores but you have to ask the manager for the key. Hardly dignified if you have a disability.
Tesco have security at the larger stores making sure customers follow Covid guidelines and normally offer masks without charging their customers. Staff, even when occupied will escort you to an isle should you struggle to locate an item. Care is taken when stocking shelves and never throw perishables onto the shelves which is a regular occurrence at both Aldi and Lidl.

You can book a fully inclusive holiday to Turkey for 2 weeks in mid summer for less than £500. Help yourself to the buffet food provided that has ben touched and coughed over by people with poor hygiene standards and then sit by a pool on a sun lounger that has probably only seen a cloth once in a season.
Or you can pay double at a hotel in Turkey on a full board basis and be waited upon at a table, have food served straight from the kitchen and will bring you a clean bed and towel should you want to sunbathe with the option of a parasol if you want to sit in the shade.
Both offer the sun and endless amounts of food but I know which one I would choose.

That may be the case but about 24 months is not a long time and they won’t wait until the 24th month to raise further funds.

I thing any green light for the P3 trial should return the sp to circa 11~13 and give some pi’s the opportunity to cut and run who invested last year. Maybe some traders will take 20% profit if they are buying at this level.
Investor relations has always been poor with this company and has been the same for the last decade if not longer. Investors have always been a an unnecessary distraction here. Of course the focus has to be the science but they should also be aware that shareholders need to see a return.
Too many are self indulgent and ignore the fact that you cannot have one without the other. They will end up giving away their entire rights to the Lupuzor compound in order to remain viable.
Current MC is looking good when you see the RvR but the reward potential is declining as time moves on.

I sold at an average above 170 just before the last P3 readout. From memory I’d did touch 186.
However, the fundamentals are completely different this time around. Number of shares in issue and a lead partner. Funding will also play its part as 2023 approaches. The expected P3 trial should be in an advanced stage by then otherwise a 5 bagger may be difficult to achieve.
Of course just my opinion but if history has any bearing on future strategy TM will ask shareholders for more money before any trial comes to its conclusion.

Not intended to disrupt the bb or be negative towards the company and it’s direction but companies like Lanstead have a different approach to buying and selling than pi’s.
A loss on 1.3m will just about cover expenses of an analyst attending a corporate event in New York.
Lanstead have made many multiples of that in profits over the years. They have supported IMM on the run up to the last P3 trial but there will be no loyalty if they cannot see much chance of a return.
I hope this comes good, not just for the long suffering pi’s but for those suffering from this awful disease.
