England reverted to the style they have used for nigh on 50 years ........keep giving it back to Pickford who hoofs it up field and 9 times out of 10 the opposition regain the ball again. That tactic with this new England was only for quick breaks when the opposition team are still pressing up , not when they've regained their positions. All game long and especially Walker kept passing back to goalie which gives time for the other team to regain their shape which is then facing the ball as its kicked at them.
Ironically when they were courageous to do so England going forward with the ball on the ground were far more effective. Never mind it was a great run if somewhat fortuitous
