First signs of Israel starting to unlock in what they claim will be their "final shutdown"

Lovelace it is good to see that you are also picking up on the only thing that will lead to the reopening of shops. Here was my interpretation of todays data and I do it daily on the Cine bulletin board as reopenings also have direct relevance over there.

Been monitoring this ledsparky and also the fact that Israel started lifting some lockdown restrictions yesterday. The big words though are in what will be "the final shutdown" so they anticipate permanent reopening.

A lot of talk on varients throughout and the scaremongering.
JVT. Kent variant is our main threat and the dominant virus in the UK and no reason to belief SA variant will overtake the Kent variant. Pfizer + AZ vaccine work well against this.
Only 147 case of the SA varient and no new cases in the last 2 days.
SA Varient – no transmissibility advantage over Kent verient and no reason to believe therefore that it will overtake the Kent varient as our dominant strain. JVT is not concerned.
Vaccines being used already that are effective against SA varient,
Potential for variant vaccines for the autumn also.
Can always be re-vaccinated if had two doses previously. Probably 1 jab only but too early to say.
50 Million doses on order already for new varients.

Full aim is to shift the full curve to the left – away from the hospitalisations to a manageable community illness in the same way as at the flu.

Imho the vaccine program is going far better than they were actually acknowledging tonight (and the stats say so) Tonight's briefing was more about trying to nip in the bud any SA Virus media scaremongering.

Superb Coronavirus Statistics this Weekend

I thought yesterdays stats were really good but todays ones top them on all fronts and are superlative. That is two super days on the trot on decent vaccination numbers and noticeably decreasing key variables.

Vaccinations are over 500k for the day and that's now over 12M of 15M vaccinated in the Top 4 Cohorts.
Infection rate - the lowest I have seen it
Hospitalisations well down. (Well under 20k+ that has been normal)

Deaths - the standout number again. 373 against a peak of 1820 (Weekend numbers though) That said the trend line will now be taking a noticeable dip.

Pressure will build further on the PM to ease things and start to Unlock. Watch the journalists questions after the Government Briefing tomorrow evening.

I wonder if they will let the gap build further between ourselves and Easyjet, Jet2 and IAG, all of which rebounded well last week.

The Telegraph disclosed just over a week back that the Govt has spent £450,000 worth of government grants on eight different vaccine passport schemes, despite claiming that there are “no plans” for a roll-out across the country.

They'll be coming in and their are plenty countries out there who are heavily dependant on tourism and whose tourism industries are on their knees, that will willingly accept "safe" UK Pounds sterling. Greece the first showing its hand.

Thanks for posting and probably more OTB specific as here was what TUI said only a couple of weeks ago. In the meantime the vaccine rollout of those over 50's keeps up itc momentum and as of today it was just short of 11M vaccinated of the 15M in those first 4 cohorts.
