Hi Freo, I had the same issue myself this morning. My broker (HL) requires completion of a W-8BEN form. This appears to apply only to Canadian tax implications for dividend payments, and as OMI doesn't currently pay a divi it's not that relevant. It did put me off buying here though, as it has with other foreign-listed shares, as I evidently need to do more research. Oh, and it doesn't matter that it's listed on AIM, the same rules apply.

Was looking for somewhere to invest when the roof came off at TW & I realised the share price wasn't built on solid foundations.
I looked at 888 Holdings but decided it was too much of a gamble.
So I thought how about Avon Rubber, invest & wait for the bounce?
But in the end, I decided to come along for the ride with you guys, you're all just so NICE! Better late than never. My average is 22p and here for the long haul now. GLA. K

adv11 re the battery technology quote, my guess would be that GSF will assess the viability of a project regardless of the specific technology being deployed (e.g. Li, a.n.other), rather then being limited to one storage method. Interesting quote though.

PBShares if it's just for the short term, not an issue (BP currently pays a dividend it can't afford, from borrowed money). It's part of the ramp-up costs. The issue would arise if the new assets were unable to generate revenue at the same rate as the current plant and the company maintained the dividend (living beyond their means, in other words). I can't see this happening though, the revenue streams are very predictable and reliable, at least in the short term with few other players in the market.

Thanks very much Tony, adv11. Really helpful to have your thoughts on this. I can see what you are saying, and will certainly take it into account when considering investing in the current offer. My need is for a reliable source of dividend income that doesn't dilute my investment in real terms, a difficult ask in the current climate.

This is an interesting period for the company, no doubt there will be growing pains associated with the ramp-up, and as you both point out the current yield looks susceptible at least in the short term. Good luck to you both with this & your other investments. K

7% yield at the offer price, can you explain why you don't think this is sustainable? All I see is GSF taking a model that works and enlarging it, thus diluting the management cost burden. What am I missing?

I take it all back, email this morning from PrimaryBid. Offer open until 12.00pm 14th December at 100p offer price. So they DO care about us, I never doubted it for a second ;-)

Am I right in thinking all the new, cheap shares are for new & existing II's, and that GSF have no interest in helping us PI's acquire any of them? I've read the guff about how this will benefit existing investors, but it'll benefit new shareholders even more at the £1.00 placing price.

AZ has committed to providing the vaccine worldwide on a not-for-profit basis as part of their agreement with the University of Oxford. So it's never going to be the windfall others are hoping for.

Appreciate what you're saying potnak, baserite, completely agree this is very much a sideshow in terms of what SAR could achieve. I do think it's important though, because the more irons there are in the fire, the more likely it is that SAR will hit one of the sweet spots along the journey. 2 in every 3 people I speak to tell me they won't be taking the vaccine, because of the safety concerns discussed here yesterday, so regardless of progress on the vaccine front there's plenty of space left for proven treatments. I therefore hope that SAR pursue this option with speed and rigour, at least one of which they've shown themselves more than capable of so far.

To be fair Potnak, SAR have put themselves in the frame by applying for the grant(s). I've said before, even if we had a vaccine available with guaranteed 100% efficacy and safety, there'd be millions of people (half of Americans to start with) who wouldn't take it, so there's always going to be a need for treatments. You're right though, this isn't the main event, no LTH invested in SAR because of it's potential to treat Covid patients.

RMM, the only thing that's being rushed through is the paperwork. Instead of the evidence sitting on someone's desk waiting for them to get round to reviewing it, people are all over it (pardon the pun) like a rash. The trials themselves are being conducted in exactly the same way as they would be for any other vaccine. The different stages are being overlapped for expediency, but the same rigour is going into the process. I do concede, though, given the choice, I wouldn't go for the mRNA-based vaccines. I accept the arguments as far as they are concerned. I would prefer the vaccine being developed by AZ & Oxford even if it proves less efficacious than the two that have reported so far.

OK so we know a fundraising is in the offing, the company told us so. Yesterday the price went to c. 1.40 and they didn't announce a raise. Could this be because:
- They were asleep at the wheel?
- They have decided they don't need to raise?
- They think there's further to go in this current run?
- There's more news in the pipeline that will propel the price higher?

Any other suggestions? Hoping for Option 4 obviously. Keep checking your email because it'll probably be another very rapid Primary Bid auction when it comes and you wouldn't want to miss it.

Thanks Mehta. Could you ask your sister if her surgery gives the flu jab, which changes every year, saves millions of lives and has never demonstrated any of the side-effects your scare-mongering refers to?

I don't disagree with any of that Alf, this can only be positive news as the market has confirmed. I just hope the company had the courtesy and respect to make By-Health aware of what they were doing, before it was announced. No reason to think they wouldn't have, by the way.

Tiny MCap here still, if this gets going in China it will blow the roof off. Just hope, as the RNS says, that this IS complementary to the By-Health deal, we don't want to p!ss on their cornflakes.

I'm with you on this b_t. Great deal for Dilly, new broom clearing away all the blockers. Great deal for CRT, this is moving again (SRRA's recent update made it clear there was no guarantee this would ever see the light of day). And potentially a great deal for SAR, given our current tiny MCap & the impact any good news would have. Let's hope there's more +ive news on several fronts soon now.
