Well said colbalt, hear hear. My own AIM dog list also includes Provexis although I have a feeling it could yet "do a SAR" if the Chinese research comes good. However, it also includes pooches that have been buried (CTT, HAWK, FDI) and some that should have been (TRP, VOG, KDNC), so SAR has been a wonderful tonic and more than kept me afloat. Onwards & upwards!

As I mentioned before, the 118p was an error, reversed out. Should have been 181p. This is the lowest the share has ever traded. When did you buy yours at 130p? You got a good deal there...

I do wish the MMs would stop playing games with the sp though. Bid 0.80, ask 0.90, mid 1.00??? Oh and there we go, as I speak, a buy at the full ask 0.90 and now shows a change of -10%. Manipulation, we can do without it.

It feels like this could be a really exciting 12 months ahead for PXS. It's been a long time coming, and the lack of news drags the life out of you sometimes, but there really could be good times ahead. I'm hoping we don't get taken over, at least until we've established what represents fair value if/when the By Health research comes good.

Nice little recovery from sub-160, would be nice to think this is the beginning of a recovery phase after sustained falls here for many months. There are plenty of concerns about the housing market (aren't there always?), but plenty of reasons to be positive about how TW. will navigate the challenges.

adv11, just going back to HL's charging structure. The 0.45% with a maximum of £45 refers to dealing in shares or IT's held in an ISA (or a SIPP, the charges are similar). You have to add dealing costs to that obviously. They charge 0.45% on the value of funds up to £250k in value, then 0.25% over 250k. So on the face of it that's pretty similar to holding shares & trusts. However, it then says "The investments you choose may have their own charges, such as charges from a particular fund manager. These are in addition to our account charges. You can find these in each investment’s key investor information document". This is the part that's killing me, and to be fair it's not HL's charges, it's the fund managers. I'll now make it a policy to sell down any fund that charges me more than £200/year. I've also updated my spreadsheet to show yield net of any costs that I'm aware of from the KID's. That changes things pretty dramatically, but there's no point deluding yourself and ignoring the charges. I'm a lot clearer now about what I'm dealing with, and a lot less likely to buy funds in future. Hope this helps to clarify things a bit more. K

I had no idea about any of this. The only restriction I've come across is buying overseas shares, so I tend to buy funds & trusts instead when looking beyond the UK. It's almost like they're saying your money isn't quite good enough - do they want you to pass an intelligence test? Or, more likely, prove you went to the right school/university? It's like everywhere in life there's have's and have-nots. Must be very frustrating. Maybe I'm paying fees to HL for the "privilege" - if I am, it's not worth it!

Re GRID, how odd! I'm not a shareholder there and haven't tried buying any so I don't know if HL would allow me to buy them or not. £400m market cap so they're no fly-by-night, unlike some of the dodgy outfits we've bought shares from in the past. Fingers crossed re the top-up, I have to admit I'm tempted too - they always say buy on the dips.

I'm wondering if this has anything to do with the news on GRID this morning? They've announced a discounted placing to raise additional funds, similar to the GSF raise earlier in the year. Perhaps people are selling down here to take part in the placing? Either way, they're down more than us this morning.

"Buy" rating at 81.2p. 12-month average premium to NAV 9.8%, currently discount of -5.7%. Anticipated dividend of between 4 & 6%, charges 0.36%. Trading at a huge discount to similar "flexible" trusts. Sounds good to me - I'm in!

The 118p figure quoted on here as the 12-month low is incorrect (reversed posting error). This is now trading at it's lowest level since listing. I have to admit I don't understand it at all. Who knows where this will bottom out?

Yes I'm suffering with a bit of writer's cRAMP this morning adv, silly old sod that I am lol.
As I mentioned before, I don't have a problem seeing where the charges appear in HL, they come up every month & I also get the quarterly Investment Reports, so nothing is hidden. It's very clear that I'm paying these charges, not the company or the broker. Here's what they said in reply to my querying the £383 charge for my 3i holding:
"From looking into your query, I can see 3i Group's current ongoing charges are 1.45%, which are the standard charges the fund management team apply for looking after and running the trust.

I will also note, 3i Group has total charges of around 3% which includes around 1.2% of incidental charges which in this case seem to be related to carried/retained interest.

The 1.26% shown under the heading 'Trust Basics' is calculated from the previous 12 months and does not include all charges associated with running the Investment Trust."
Needless to say, now I can see that 3i want 3% of my investment every year to manage their fund, I'm selling it down & moving to something (I hope) has lower costs. Although, when your broker's own website says the ongoing costs are 1.45%, but then clarifies that what they actually meant was 3%, how are you supposed to navigate this minefield?

Gosh no, I don't want an argument about it either adv11, I just want to get to the bottom of it for all 3 of us. These new regulations are supposed to make it easier for investors to see exactly what they're paying in terms of costs, in fact it's just given the brokers more smokescreens to hide behind. We should never be having these conversations, there shouldn't be any need.

2p dividend! Woohoo!! My average is just under £1 so that's 8% (less charges...lol). No NAV update yet but they're obviously confident with the information they have available to them, so the year-end report should be positive. Expect the SP to rise steadily when the market wakes up to the dividend increase.

adv11, they take a monthly fee from the cash in my ISA or SIPP. There are no deductions from my ordinary share account. It's all pretty transparent, but this discussion is helping to shine a light on it. Can you explain what you mean by "Paid by the company, not the shareholder, but comes out of the value of your shareholding.". I don't understand what you mean.
