RE: Calculations28 Jul 2025 20:42
Back in the day I did lots of calculations on how much the reserves could be worth, though mainly for Monchetundra – West Kytlim was regarded as the boring one that was providing the everyday income.
So let’s look at the figures we have from this new (rather surprising) RNS. I will try some basic analysis, I am sure others will be able to improve on this.
The production is now up to 700kg, compared to a projected 64,000 ounces per year (typically mixed units designed to confuse). There are 32.15 Troy ounces in a kg. (A Troy oz is about 10% bigger than a regular oz). What this actually means is that production is now running at 35% of the planned.
How much is each ounce worth? Current prices are:
Gold £2477
Palladium £920
Platinum £1000
Rare earths – considerably more
I don’t know the split between them but let’s guess at an average of £1300 and with an extraction cost of $300 - $400 I am going to use a convenient £1000/oz as the value.
Current production yields £22.5M per year, or earnings per share of 0.75p
Projected production yields £64M per year, or earnings per share of 2.1p
I don’t know what p/e ratio should be used but I guess that the current share price of 5p would be covered by just the current West Kytlim earnings, without taking into account all the other assets and the future developments. Looks like a stonking investment!
