The interesting thing on the one year wait to get £60m is the amount of interest we would have got on the year..BT they asked that we wait a year and we had no immediate need for the cash …just wow. What are we looking at £2.5m of interest ?? Who couldn’t use that!!

Yes patience is a virtue apparently but it is 2 weeks tomorrow since they confirmed receipt of the second tranche and would update shareholders shortly on the final proposals ..we have waited a year for no apparent reason to actually get proper cash into the business..it made no difference to BT apparently waiting a year so he said !? They have had long enough to be organised on receiving the funds surely to know what they are to propose to shareholders they have blabbed on about it enough and got the capital reorganisation done 6 months ago how come the board still hasn’t come up with a plan of action? Its a pretty straightforward range ..bit like a multiple choice question.

I hope this appointment last year hasn’t impacted on his ability to decide on how to fulfil the capital return ! It’s going into extra time !

If there was anything that impacts on the long term expectation of

“The return of capital is expected to commence shortly after the receipt of the second tranche of litigation proceeds”

To the tune of £33-£40m they would have to inform shareholders ..not just delay.

If they have received an approach one would hope they would say something rather than wait for a leak. Its possible something else is going on but more likely they have just not got their ducks in a row to get something out, which is not great since they have had an age and everything they say has gone completely to plan and that their financial targets are in line with expectation.

Either way they will have to explain pretty soon as the committment to commence return shortly after receipt is not in a presentation that is from the legal document around the capital reduction that shareholders had to vote on.

How far does shortly stretch..i reckon it will already be over a month from receipt to commence the capital return whatever they do.

Bonzo if they can talk it through with one new board member before they join why not talk it through with the other..they did say they would have decided in January anyway before either were due to join. They are not joining for their tax expertise but their commercial experience i thought?

Fair point it is disappointing they can’t at least announce the proposed means of distribution and the amount , there are only a few options and all of the options will mean the company does not part with any cash for 3-4 weeks from that announcement anyway so now might be running into March to get anything returned.

No reason they shouldn’t have been ready to push the button on whatever the process they decided on when the funds were received. Again from specific guidance of January they have moved to a vague ‘shortly’..not sure how long that means obviously not hours or days here , let’s hope it’s in weeks not months !

It may be that coming up with a plan that gives optionality around income or capital as they said they would try to do is proving complicated…it was always going to be!

Well that makes sense but there’s a chance of STM sensors being identified ..but the somewhat amateur approach i have seen so far is really look at me i have broken something into little bits kind of approach which certainly is not going to get us very far in knowing whether our materials are present. Nanoco has torn down many screens in a search for CFQDs and will know what they are looking for however knowing the way things move there it could take a year!

Unfortunately the pro’s doing this will likely just be trying to copy elements and not disclose what they find ..so hopes a teardown answering the big question might be rather optimistic.

Why?

The order would be the same customer STM , so we would have no idea of the underlying customer and therefore customer base. Could be for the same underlying customer..thats good a repeat order ! Or a new customer ..small lot sample maybe one off?

Think we need to know where the materials are going to really be able to tell… but any order is an order and a positive. Size and destination more so.

Just a matter of time ?

I think wearing anything that impairs your senses while you are out in public especially crossing roads and riding or driving ( seen a guy with VP driving a tesla) is not really someone who can be described as the brightest , irrespective of how clever technology gets it does not improve the intelligence of the end user. Though the internet and desire for attention is slowly reimplementing Darwin’s law’s.

BC..well Nanoco said they would teardown a device to see if it was their materials..it is a legitimate industry way of demonstrating effective use. They have their new device testing facility at Runcorn ..i imagine that that is there to test in real world devices , but also to teardown the odd display and device to see what’s going on inside. They did say on display where they are narrowing down the infringers of their CFQD technology that they have to build a case so i imagine they might be getting quite good at dismantling and testing materials. Might take them more time to release anything down to them being less rushed to do anything and the sensitivity around disclosing.

Seeing some of the “influencers” out on the street and the roads wearing them like idiots..it’s a matter of time before the first serious accident or they get mugged for them !

There is not a history of interim trading updates except 2023 and that was alongside the specific news of the settlement, maybe trying to divert a bit from that news! Thats not to say they won’t bring one out especially if they are to tell shareholders how they plan to return capital but it’s not a regular update they do. I agree would be great to have more clarity on a few things including the capital return.

Since microLED is getting some comment and appears to have a bright future i thought it was interesting looking back a the deal with Plessey in 2019 that didn’t go anywhere at the time but this article maybe explains where Nanoco patented technology might fit in.
