..so launches in a number of geographic areas after March ..one would hope that ahead of that there would be a repeat order but difficult to know what has been supplied and how many devices that supports…if our materials are indeed being used.

Lets hope Nanoco are good to their word and get their hands on a VP shortly so they can tell us if their materials are being used…shortly.

They have pretty much committed to the return actually taking place in Feb or early March that is already going to get stretched if they are moving to “during the 1st quarter”.

Not sure delaying to the new tax year would suit everyone , those in tax wrappers it makes little difference how it is paid or when ,does it ? so presumably the sooner the better ?

In technology always tricky knowing where the competition is and how they are going about developing like solutions ..we obviously are focusing on STM and Nanoco and there is precious little detail available on what sensors our materials are in and what functionality and end use ( though expect its potentially very wide) they may have..what others are doing possibility more difficult ..but guess we are ahead of QS Ltd as I don’t think their ink is incorporated in a sensor yet.its all very secret squirrel in this world ..but I guess what happened in CFQD..if you don’t cover your back you get ….

This is from the legal document ahead of the shareholder vote at general meeting to approve the capital reduction..sort of trumps anything in terms of what was promised to shareholders voting.

Just looking at the functionalities of the recent STM releases and what the Vision Pro sensors can do…so maybe 2+2=5!

And the eye tracking and id seems the most likely use IF any of Nanoco materials are in the VP.

I think it’s interesting because it’s using the eye tracking IR sensors.. I thought there might be a separate sensor but the functionality of SWIR and near infrared sensors is being used for Optic ID too. If it’s not STMicro IR sensors it’s very similar in spec and purpose.

Thats about the fixed cost base on Nanoco covered..but we didn’t have use for the money so said ok we’ll take the money in a year!!

Anyway on the £40m which should be available to pay out to shareholders they should be getting £40k a week interest.

Major rns’ will also be run by the company advisors and brokers before board approval.

Troublesome..I’m more in the “they are just not good at it “ camp, don’t personally think BT does anything but his best , but along the way has allowed expectation to be guided that has been misleading and often somewhat conflicting. He also has little empathy for shareholders and the response to the settlement was far too defensive basically telling shareholders they had missed some obscure low end model in court documents was really very crass when he had approved the low end estimates in their marketing material. Think if he had said we hoped to get better but that was the best we could do might have been a better strategy. They have appeared very arrogant over this and just don’t seem to understand how retail shareholders ( owners of 75%) might see things. Just my opinion.

I am sure they will get there and lets hope its a solution that keeps everyone happy!

The fact this is a major event in the companys corporate history and they have had so long to sort and prioritise it , it seems surprising at the situation.

Maybe there is other information , trading update or something else corporate they are trying to tie up with this news…but there is no reason to think that is appropriate unless they want to change the basis of the return because of a change in capital requirement. If there is something they need to communicate it pronto.

Thing is when this company and many others put defined timelines in ..ie validation by end of FY and miss it they then have to comment , therefore companies like Nanoco just like being vague now so don’t set targets that can be interpreted in different ways. Around the year end , shortly etc..

I would normally take shortly as within a few days..but maybe a few weeks...but if someone who owed me money said they would get back to me shortly and i hadn’t heard for 2 weeks i would be on the phone !

Just more poor comms from a company that is very good at poor comms.

I think its odd why some were not expecting the process to be out by now.

EXTRACTS FROM THE CIRCULAR

June 2023

…a return of capital of between GBP33 million and GBP40 million (or approximately 10 pence to 12 pence per share (including vested options)). The return of capital is expected to commence shortly after the receipt of the second tranche of litigation proceeds.

For any process to commence they will need shareholder approval ..3 weeks and if there is a mechanism to allow a/b shares or even if there is a tender there will be a process after that for shareholders to choose how they participate.

So we could already be looking well into mid March for the return of capital to commence.

Shortly relative to how long Samsung made us wait for the money i suppose.

I believe as soon as there is a board meeting approving capital return scheme it will need to be announced without delay…so presume that has not taken place before today.

Maybe something tomorrow hey.

We have a company returning capital ..we don’t now how exactly how much or exactly when .

They have an order we don’t know what for or how much for or what her it is likely to be recurring ..but it is small.

We have forecasts that don’t move when they announce positive developments.

But they require you to trust them on this…trust which has not panned out before.

As some have said they should want to restore shareholder trust but for that we need some clarity and certainty not what we have right now.

The unwinding of the hedge should make no difference at all... They say they have received the funds almost 2 weeks ago ( cash in their accounts) and whatever they decide they will not need the funds in sterling for several weeks anyway. Probably not for a month from today however they want to proceed.

Oh and the exchange rate was better for us a year ago than they hedged at ..that was not a win but it protected most of the tranche…only after they had done nothing and it went massively against them in the first few months last year.

The interesting thing on the one year wait to get £60m is the amount of interest we would have got on the year..BT they asked that we wait a year and we had no immediate need for the cash …just wow. What are we looking at £2.5m of interest ?? Who couldn’t use that!!

Gives an idea on negotiations i reckon , lions against lambs!
