RE: Covid jab7 Nov 2021 23:33
I quite like the off topic threads now and again, as long they aren't used to bury debate etc; so will put my covid two penneth worth in.
I've had the two jabs, last one May this year, and got covid in September. I wouldn't recommend it but, and this is based on my reaction to it, I'd take it over Influenza every time. I was 16 when I had that; got home from my milk round job and hugged the radiator in a way that would have even left Septic Lil gasping for breath. I couldn't get out of bed for four days, managed Christmas dinner but then straight back to bed.
Mrs Clanger; stage 4 cancer and mid chemo, no jabs as they weren't about last year (and subsequently been told not to have any), got covid and brushed it off in about five days. Said she'd had worse colds but she is as tough as old boots.
The flip side is an old work pal of mine and his parents died from it (God bless him, absolutely great guy); his brother, although ill from it, survived. My mate's mum, early 60s who looked and seemed in her late 40s possibly early 50s, sadly died of covid too. Neither were the slightly dubious "tested positive within 28 days" cases.
Guess I'm saying that whilst I've had a healthy amount of cynicism about the whole thing, I don't think my old work pal or my mate's mother would have died if covid hadn't been about.
However, I'm concerned we will sanitize ourselves to death if we are not careful and the minor stuff will seize its opportunity if we're not careful.
