I think the variant the govt is most concerned about is the S.A as Astra doesn't offer high levels of protection against it. Hence reports coming out mixing boosters , will guarentee all those double dosed vunerable groups who were given Astra will be given a MRNA booster prob Pfizer. I assume they take a while to manufacture so is the dilema that Indian most prevalent but S.A most dangerous ? Does any one know % of people given Astra.

Agree Kitzie but it has been clear for a long time that what the govt says and many of the reports in the newspapers are almost diametrically opposed to what independent sage and numerous other scientific institutions believe is happening. There is a balance between fear mongering and witholding the truth occurring on a daily basis. The huge rise in figures of positive cases is alarming. Whilst our govt seems complacent , Merkel is pushing to have UK citizens banned from Europe until we gain control of the rapidly increasing numbers. Now we all know tourism is essential to many of those countries, so I assume she is fearful for those not yet vaccinated , why aren't we ? Why the crowds at Wimbledon and Wembley , access either via double vaccination or LTF , highly probably Innova ,whilst still supposedly in lockdown. Is it another trial but we haven't been told ?

Was great to see Proffessor Sarah Gilbert receiving a standing ovation and to see Wimbledon back , it is to me representative of British summertime , but cannot help but be concerned at the lack of social distancing whilst Delta is spreading so quickly.
