One issue we have as a country is affordability for young people. I have children who are in their early twenties and have comparable jobs to the job I had at their age. However to buy the exact same first house I bought it is now unaffordable. That house is 10 times their salary whereas for me is was 4 times. Their mortgage payment (repayment) would be £1687 (75% of salary) whereas for me it was £428 (30% of salary). So as much as they would like to buy they can't. On top of this they each have £50k+ of student loan to repay which they never will but the monthly payments mean they have even less buying power than I did at their age.

I agree I think we'll see rather more groups holding out for bigger deals now they have seen the doctors deal. Haven't the train drivers got a load more pay with no impact to conditions/working practices too?

EE/BT are the same company. EE is the main consumer brand, Plusnet is its value brand and BT is its business brand. Same parent company, just different brands within it.

I think most consumer customers are taking up EE packages now as are those BT customers that are re-contracting. From memory the July trading statement said consumer numbers dropped by 0.3% (BB) and 0.1% (Mobile).

Aren't most of the headcount reductions planned to come from the natural reduction in people installing fibre once the roll out slows down? And I thought that I had read that a lot of these are contractors so won't need redundancy costs?

Think they would have realised the synergies of bringing all of consumer under the single EE brand by now as they have been doing that over the last 2 years (which is where the redundancy cost would be)??

I thought I'd cheer myself up and work out how long I will need to hold my ITV shares if I am to recover my losses through the DIVI payments. Only 22 years to go I reckon.

If the price increases by 5% a day you will hit 17p by 16th January. A few big jumps in there and you could be there by Christmas! Stranger things have happened on the AIM

I remember the £1 days (promises of) when I was buying in at 30-45p range. This has been my worst performing share for ages. Hope they get back up to a decent level quickly but I doubt it.

According to the people on this forum we bottomed out about 4.5 years ago when I came in with all my savings at 48p (that is 48 not 0.48). I’m 47 years old and hoping to break even by the time I retire.

Buy today, take the divi and hold long term or buy on Thrs and sell quickly once the price increases. Depends what your need is. I am buying and holding.

All BT contact centres are UK based as are EE and Plusnet. All were onshored a while ago. I have always found them to be excellent (have all 3 brands in our house)
