One of the reason I'm in GKP and GENL is a bet on Suez being closed (originally I was thinking by the BRICS, now it looks like the Houthis will do it). Ceyhan would then be one of the best route for the EU. Notice also the recent EBRD admission after years of waiting, and the KRG having the EU foreign affairs committee in the loop on what's Iraq internal affairs. I think this will all end with a new oil & gas law compatible with the EU requirements and a fat loan from the EBRD to clean up the mess.

You'd be surprised. Lot of quality information and fresh geopolitical perspectives. Don't judge the book on the cover.

Yesterday was the market being stupid.

At current prices I find GENL more interesting than GKP. With GENL you get 3 catalysts :

- they not only mostly cover costs, but they are recovering arrears. they may exceed our expectations there

- the arbitration case in 2 months

- and of course that old pipeline thing

I don't even care about Somalia or Morocco at this point. It's priced at 0!

Seems like it was the GKP update (which was not bad either). I bought 3000 more GENL at 66.6p, missed the intraday low...

Maybe we should hedge and buy shares of Ülker?

So, reading between the lines here, you're suggesting we buy GENL instead? I have both, I'm agnostic.

Genel is a Turkish company, so should be unaffected by Russian/China shenanigans.

Now that I've got this weight off my shoulders, I confess it wholeheartedly. I should never have put that much eggs in one basket, albeit one I thought was a relatively boring, safe investment.

That was good advice Falconer but I didn't have the testicular fortitude to add @47p. Those who did it will indeed earn 10p per share which is pretty nice in such a short timeframe. Some other guy said it's going up because rates have topped and may go down, I think it's a delusion. Rates will stay higher for longer with all the world heating up and monetary printing required to wage war. I didn't expect SOHO to be so rate-sensitive but it is. The unpaid arrears are another thing I didn't expect with money coming from HMG. Sold all my remaining shares at 59.50p, wish you guys the best of luck.

If it hit 60p I'll dump all my remaining shares and be done with it. Not worth the white hairs.

GKP is a Bermudan company operating oil fields in Iraqi Kurdistan. It does not export any oil currently. Why should we care about Bahrain?

Contracts were made under English law, they were always legal. Issue was Iraqis are uncivilised and have no rule of law and this has not changed, they are just pressured by all kind of ruthless people to clean up that particular mess at the moment. They can do an even nastier dog's dinner later when nobody's looking anymore. And do you really think this warranted a £26.7 quid discount per share? I suppose you have an extraordinary Excel sheet to back that extraordinary claim? I won't be bullheaded though and concede you £1 more, so a £3-4 range. Not too shabby, mind you, but not a rags to riches story either.

If we can sell our H2S and H2O -laced sludge through Ceyhan again this will be worth about £2-3 with a fat dividend now and then which is nice enough. Supermajors won't fall over themselves to buy stuff in Iraqi Kurdistan, what with the random drone attacks from Iran-backed militia, the rampant sectarian strife, and Turkish-delight-face-stuffing based decision process. If oil is flowing after the December Oil & Gas Law is passed (?) I will be a happy man. Any payment made on our arrears and I will be crying tears of joy. I rarely cry.

that's what i thought when i bought at 90p in 2020 and topped up at 95 two years ago. oh, did i feel savvy then, buying under the nav a safe company. yet here i am now, with half my money gone. see you in a year, when it'll be worth a crown and dividends won't have made a dent in the colossal loss. i've become numb and don't even care to sell at these insulting prices. my father in law was taking the **** last week-end, bastard doubled his money playing ugly names like nvidia. i wanted to shove his head in the bbq.
