Maximum Negativity today?14 May 2018 09:34
I echo the sentiments of the previous poster, don't let them tell you how wonderful all is, directors in general are well versed in making a rotten situation look excellent, and our directors are top of the class.
They justify the bonus awards on meeting targets, yet they failed on all the targets communicated to shareholders.
Last year they missed the end of year target but still claimed success, however, far more importantly they missed the annualised average by a bigger margin which meant significant lost revenue. Resulted in the slim profit and much disappointment as overhead costs mushroomed.
On social issues we actually lost near a months production and allegedly spent considerably more money supporting locals, how is that a success in managing local issues.
On Health, Safety and Environment, it's anybody's guess how well they did, success can be claimed by any company barring a tragedy (fatality of major incident), all companies should be expected to excel in this area, it's a minimum requirement IMO. Personally, as someone who has worked in HSE I don't give brownie points for doing the minimum expected.
WRT today, if someone really wanted to hurt the company as it is sometimes alleged (RH) and has the capability to do it, today is the last opportunity to inflict meaningful damage, or at least to try to embarrass the BoD - it's also a chance to take a position at a low price - the closing price will be interesting.
I suspect this could be the low point for the company (unless oil collapses), usually after an AGM a companies SP improves as investors are reassured.
Whatever, lets not forget our future as shareholders is totally in the hands of the magnificent 3, Chairman, CEO and FD, the AGM attendees should make them realise their responsibility, failings and the risks to them of further under-performance.
