They have borrowed shares, which they have then sold (hence the short). To close the short they have to return the shares to the broker/lender, which means obviously that they have to buy the shares back in order to return what they sold.
They hope to be able to buy the shares back at a lower price whereby comes their profit

Basically as kn0wles put it , approx 50,000 shares bought by directors at 75.88p as part of remuneration package

Myself, just bought more, not large sums but if you look at 1 day charts (on HL), there is a distinct pattern where the shorters are reducing first thing and then through the day the price rises in a controlled fashion, all done by their bots. Small rises followed by small(er) drops and repeated all day

There I was last week telling him to hold his chin up when I thought he was genuinely sounding depressed.
Tell you what escallum, go drown in your own ‘self worth’ - shouldn’t take much water!

One or two posters last Friday were talking about submitting complaints to FCA
Instead of FCA perhaps should consider writing to Archie Norman (M&S boss)
According to Mail on Sunday big article about how he is apparently launching a ‘Share Your Voice’ campaign on behalf of small shareholders who he believes are being ‘disenfranchised’
One of the reasons he feels inspired to do so is “We have more than 30 million customers and a large pi base. Why aren’t we setting out to show people they can invest in British Companies…….. back in the 1980’s there were a lot more small shareholders……. four decades later however most of UK plc is owned by big institutions and foreign investors”
The article is written by Ruth Sunderland, and she says ‘it may be quixotic to champion the small shareholder-though if anyone can do it , then Archie Norman can’!
The only downside to the article is that said Mr Norman is more concerned that pi’s get access to company accounts digitally which would make communications more accessible.
The story is, of course, that the reason small shareholder numbers have declined is because the stock market is run BY a bunch of bent traders FOR a bunch of bent traders on an uneven playing field!!!
Concentrate on levelling up the playing field and small shareholder numbers might just improve.
Apologies for rant, point of post was for those who feel they can be bothered to complain might be better directed to send any such to our friend Mr Archie Norman and not the FCA

Got my limit orders in for buys at various prices from 65p up to 70p
Shorters having another pop at this and it’s no use at all for pi’s to take them on, they will control their exits, just take advantage of their squirming

My thoughts, probably some of newer holders who bought after SFO debacle thinking there was going to be massive rise then, probably averaged down around 100p/120p, and have had their nerves shredded and looking to get out as quick as they got in, compounding their mistake.

I think in my hasty editing of the table I mistakenly omitted the price being ‘gbx’
Maybe that answers everything, so win/loss -234.50 M is really 2.35 million pounds, which would tie in with what techie said

I assume they derive their data from somewhere reliable just like shorttracker Uk site.
I posted it without any intent other than interest and in celebration of the joy of seeing the shorters suffer, like they have made us suffer, for a long time!

Word of warning on shorters needing to buy shares to close out.
The following can and does happen : be very, very wary of placing stop losses!
When stock gets short the MM will suddenly drop the price for MINUTES ONLY in order to mop up stop losses placed too close to current price , even 25% below ask, in order to fill large orders!
I have had personal experience of this, probably some others too, so just be careful. I personally don’t use stop losses because of this.
Keep tight hold of your shares, the tighter you hold the less opportunity for shorters and the tighter the squeeze
