TomE What is the point in buying Voda today and waiting till the 1st August to get 8.97p back when you can just buy the share tomorrow for 9p less of maybe more ?

ITV are on the move North now. What makes you think TW will rise faster ? is the World cup starting soon not going to be good for ITV ? Riolto, I bought Voda in the last few weeks around 193p and Barratt today at 554p. Last years Barratt October Divi was a special of 17.3p = a normal final of 17.1p. We know they are keeping the special at 17.3p ( �175 million) but we don't know how much the normal divi is. But we do know that this interim was 8.6p which was raised from 7.3p the year before. Quote from RNS 21st Feb: As previously announced the Board intends to pay a special dividend of �175m in November 2018. Additionally, demonstrating the Board's confidence in the business going forward it proposes to pay a further special dividend of �175m in November 2019. There is a Trading announcement due on the 11th July and final Results 5th Sept, we will have to wait till results to find out the final divi. Ex dividend 25th October

Sunday I cashed some premium bonds in to finish toping ISA up to this year's full allowance, my 8th year now. Money will be in my account now just have to decide whether to buy more TW or Barratt, ex-divi in Barratt in October will be over 34p including a special of 17.2p, last year the special git to 690p, can buy now for 553p. Tempting, and I would probably sell before the divi if above 650p.

TommyRotten Stranger things have happened. I wouldn't bet against that happening. But I sure will be buying more if they do. At 182p + 0.5% tax you would be buying at a 10% yield for 2019 (18.3p Divi)

so with the pension deficit 6 or 7 billion would not go to share holders ? they would get 2 to 3 billion ? sounds a lot to pay for a company that looses money

So at this share price the market capital is just under �1.2 billion. Why would an offer need to be 6 or 7 billion ? Surely if it was �2 billion that would be a lot.

I don't think that is was right that the bod didn't disclose how much the bid was. How can they turn the offer down without letting majority share holders know ? do the bod hold the majority of the shares ? I am guessing not

We can now look forward to receiving our dividend on the 13th July. If the Sp is still below 200p then it will be a good to reinvest the dividends. At some time the Sp will go up and 190's will be a thing of the past. Best just to hold this in an ISA and forget about it. No need to watch it every minute every day. I prefer to leave this and carry on with other buying. Thinking about some Barratt now, last year the ex-dividend day in October was for 34p and the price almost reached 700p, sold half of mine right near the top, now it's around 550p.

How much was the first offer from Apollo ? Did the bod let any know ? If not why ?

The low hasn't been 186p or anywhere near that. 189p was the low.

Last year the ex-dividend day for the special 9.2p was 1st June. On the 31st May the high was 204.5p and the close was 203p. On the 1st June (x-divi) the price opened at 195p and dropped to 189.9p and closed at 190p. By the 7th june the price was 179p. My guess is 203 to 206 by Wednesday and 193p on Thursday or Friday. I don't intend to sell any but look forward to buying more in the next few weeks.

steello That link is not up to date. It shows Neil Woodford (Woodford Investment Management) as owning 3.17% of TW. As of 18th May 2018 Woodford Investment Management owns 5.01% . TomE where ever this SP ends between 200 and 210 it means on ex-dividend day and after we will be in the 190's. At current SP we could see 192 or lower. That would give me a chance to buy a few more shares with dividends i have coming in soon. Hopefully after the ex-dividend we can recover to over 200. In the meantime we can enjoy buying cheap shares. 2019 dividend 18.3p, surely that should carry the SP higher.

For me there is an advantage of the price staying low, between 200 and 205, that is I do not get tempted to sell. If the price goes up to 210 / 212 I can feel my finger wanting to reach for the sell button. Most of the times I sell I get the timing wrong. Most of my dealing mistakes are on the selling not the buying. I would hate to sell TW at 212 and then find the share climbs to 220 / 230.

Regarding HSBC, the service is outstanding. A couple of years ago I was in Bangkok and my bank card got blocked because they suspected fraudulent activity. I had to call them and they offered to call me straight back on my phone that was using a thai sim card. They unblocked the card within minutes.
