Bamps21 I have not had a BT line in my house for over 25 years. I am with virginmedia, 200 mb broadband, , before virgin I think it was cable&wireless. Always been fantastic, last year they turned my speed up from 50 to 200mb, i never asked and costs no more, my phone actually reads 220 mb. They also gave me the new V6 TV box, records 6 channels at once extra, All for �43 a month inc phone. So ive not been a BT customer for a long time. Re: their shares I think they are cheap. Buying the dogs of the FTSE is a good strategy. I think Bt is Dog at the moment. ITV another when it dropped to 142p now 170p in a very short time. NG when it hit 730p. They all want buying when they are out of favour.

Bamps21 I have a few BT but not a lot. I intend to buy more soon. There should be some rise leading upto ex-divi 9th August. What don't you like about them ? they have the largest mobile network in UK 29% and have a phone line into most houses and businesses that they must collect line rental on.

i have no stop on my �20 position. It is only like owning 2000 shares so its no big deal. It is DFB position so no end date. Average opening is 194.89. I am waiting for 199 to get out, had divi already.

I just got my dividend adjustment payment in my IG index spread bet account. £179.60 on a £20 position. That makes the dividend 8.98p.

Kingrav Yes is in spread betting you get paid today. It should be between £8.95 & £9 per £1 of long bet. I have £20 on Voda in IG index (avg 194.5p) so I expect to see just a little less than £180 put into my account before the open at 8.00am. Obviously my £20 long position will show a minus value ( loss ) The reason we get paid today is because the market is adjusted at open to approx the divi amount. It may seem less if the world markets have gone up over night. In America and then Asia. If it wasn't adjusted for dividend then everyone and their granny could make money by shorting the day before an ex-dividend day.

I agree with you danieth If the MM's had some way of dropping the "bid" price on this the the "ask" price would also drop. They would have far more buyers than sellers. I expect to see 187p in the morning but then a rise and back into 190's next week. All the ones I bought in my ISA average 193.5p so I think im doing ok.

I didn't think the MM's could manipulate it now ? how can they ?

I calculated it on 190p share price and next years dividend of 18.3p that has already been pencilled in.

I've seen it converted somewhere and it said 8.97p. I'll try and find where it was.

I don't worry about the ups and downs in TW sp, I am not trying to deal it. I have a nice amount of TW in my ISA with a low average and I know the dividend that I will get this year and next year and its a very good return on the money I have put it. Before the end of the year I will probably buy more using dividends. I have already put in and spent this years full 20k allowance.

Last year Voda dropped from 229p on 7th June to 218.4p on 8th ex-divi day ( divi was 8.95p )

TomE The shares don't seem to reach their high on the last day before Ex-Divi day. Monday Voda was 198p, I don't think we are getting there today.
