Occasionally drop in to see wot's wot/ this 10% rise? When is BFS due? At 25p I'm tempted to break my rule of not averaging down. Is this just a market shake up to stimulate some action or is the BFS just appearing on the horizon.

Question:

Bearing in mind there are only circa 100M shares in issue, why not increase the divi instead of buybacks?
A divi is tangible - it can be reinvested or taken out as cash: buybacks you are really being blown along by the trade winds with little control no?

Or are buybacks simply a wheeze whereby those with comparatively (to me) large holdings can enjoy *ahem* tax efficiencies?

YEah, this has been rumbling along for years. I reckon a quick cash raise by BEM to buy some guns, hire some out of work Serbian mercenaries to cause mischief and foment local unrest and this project is dead in the water: mind you it's Guinea.
they're more than capable of causing their own problems. Not sure if it's Guinea or Equatorial Guinea but a recent president was alleged to enjoy eating his political opponents. IMO - having spent a little time in W Africa - I reckon any ore that makes it to a ship will probably end up in China anyway. Chinese (i think) get most of their ore from Australia and given polarisation of geo-politics in the Pacific the Chinese may look to secure minerals from further afield. Anyway, WTFDIK about all this apart from being at work bored AF and ruing the day I didn't bale at 20p. Might as well wait another 10 years, eh? - *sighs*

So yesterday this web page showed there were 496 M shares in issue. Today there are 324 M.

That's a 34% (ish) drop of shares in issue.

So why the static/decreasing SP? My mind boggles.

I've held these for almost 30 years - had my moment in the sunshine when they struck gas in Rajastan. I'll hang around for a bit to see if share reduction supports SP. Otherwise I'm off. I really struggle to see how BOD can distribute $500M without a single cent returned to SH's. Way beyond my comprehension, way beyond.

Still struggle with this and am overthinking.

If CNE is a lame duck, why would the BOD buy back/try to buy back a huge part of the company if they knew the future was looking flaky? I'm no expert at these matters but if something has been made overly complicated then I tend to smell a rat. Surely someone would only me a premium for my shares if they valued them more than the market does and what I may value them? B******ks to this I'm having a brew

Jesus Christ - read the post. It's not a comparison, I've never mentioned 'compare the miners' and it certainly is not advice - just a suggestion that maybe one ought to keep feet on the ground as there is a long way to go with this and anything could happen. It took, what was it, 7 years for Swedish Gov. to make a decision which should have taken months. FFS.

And FYI, yes, I am a LTH and been here since 2010 so it is not in my interest to deramp this share and I want my payday for my patience just as much as anyone else that has been here. IMO it ain't gonna be any time. That's all.

I think in the dim and distant there was some news about rail links? If moving freight only (slowly) then construction may not be as difficult as modern passenger track. Fortunately BEM don't have to build any tunnels.

You ain't getting rich any time soon and you can still lose your shirt even when you think you are over the worst bumps in the road. Keep that champagne on ice if I were you. Current SP at this time suggests you keep fridge door closed - unless you bailed at yesterday's peak.
