Follwing on from my last post, Zelensky now berating Russian occupation of Ukraine, in mid 2021 he withdrew Ukraine's membership from the UN Committee on the Exercise of the Inalienable Rights of the Palestinian People living under Israeli occupation. As Israel was killing and bombing Palestinians in May 2021, Zelensky depicted Israel as the victim of the Palestinians and not as a predatory settler-colonial state. he went onto change Ukraine foreign policy; dropping Palestine status from being an occupied territory.

Alex1978uk...you are not talking through your mouth in your comments on US motive in going to war; they are most certainly not to impose democracy on a country. There are many examples where US have supported a dictator in overthrowing democratically elected govts eg. in Chile, Nicaragua etc. US also props up autocrats like the Saudi king and where people want democracy. You can be a brutal dictator but classed a friend and an ally as long as you toe the US line. In this respect, I think Russia's record is way more superior. On average US UK go to war once every 10 years and more than 90% are ilegal; not one war since world war 2 have been legal. Compare this to Russia.

OWLS...best case scenario is way in excess of £5.13. As I've said before, FXPO have never been fully valued by markets; factors affecting include the geo-political issues, shady majority shareholder Zhevago, corruption in Ukraine etc. I think peace will return sooner than people think; the probe into Zhevago's past shady dealings has to end soon one way or another and corruption will be tackled cos Ukraine aspires for EU membership.

CarlosTheGoat...your best case scenario of £3 price for FXPO is incorrect. FXPO have never been fully valued by the markets in part due to geo-political issues. Once the war is over and agreement reached, this ceases to be an issue. Further, EU will embrace Ukraine in super quick time, tariff free exports to europe will be maintained to aid Ukraine development, FXPO will benefit massively in rebuilding Ukraine etc etc.

This war is in europes' back yard so will end lot sooner. And bytheway, Palestine is occupied with help and support of the US UK Ukraine and europe; now there's an example of double standard if there's one needed!

Ukraine aspires to EU membership asap and state ownership of non strategic assets are against EU competition rules. I would have thought anything other than energy, water, telecom, broadcasting and armaments would be classed as non strategic. There's zero risk of nationalisation, but if Zhevago is extradited to Ukraine and then released, he faces a risk of being drafted into the Ukraine army to fight Russia

Think more to do with the winter lull in fighting which allows greater production and exports due to fewer war disruptions/priorities.

Totally destroyed Ukraine is better from US UK angle as it will drain EU resources for years to come. Does Zelensky and the right wing mob in charge in Ukraine realise that?

POWER... you've hit the nail. China and Germany are US's biggest enemies cos they both challenge them economically and therefore US hegemony which is fading by the day. Germany props up the euro which is gaining daily on the greenback and reducing US ability to print more and they don't like it. No doubt US wants to kill off the EU and the eurozone.

CleverThoughts...you should change your id cos all the rubbish you're spouting out. Ukraine is 'totally' dependent on western weaponry (NATO wepaonry), and NATO would not supply any weapons if Ukraine used it to attack inside Russia; that is a pre-condition. NATO weapons is to be used for defence purpose within the Ukraine boundary only.

Uncle Sam knows Zelensky is no longer in charge and have become just a 'figurehead'. He is used and reduced by the right wing militants (who have hijacked upper echelons of the military since invasion) to just raise money from overeseas to keep the right wing agenda going. The US UK and europe funding Ukraine are being taken for a ride; means we're all taken for a ride. He has increasingly become lonesome, he is never seen around other Ukraine cabinet/government members. Few weeks ago he could not even accept NATO narrative on strayed missile into Poland cos his military told him not to, cos they thought it might change western attitude towards Ukraine. Zelensky is now between the rock and a hard place; he will 'lead' Ukraine into complete ruin

That is true, but what's also true is US UK now knows Zelensky is no longer in charge of what's happening in Ukraine. The military hirearchy has been hijacked by the right wing elements who makes all the decisions, and Zelensky has become just a figurehead (useful idiot) who is good at bringing foreign aid in (monetary and military), which enables it to carry out its agenda. By getting things so wrong at the outset, Zelensky has now become a prisoner of his own making. He lost the land so how can he now stop others from trying to get it back?
West deals with and supports Zelensky, which means we get taken for a ride as well. So over coming weeks and months, I can see nudging Ukraine towards peace becoming a push if nothing happens and we may end up having to shove Ukraine towards peace. I see no other way of ending problems we currently face globally.

Totally agree with you POWER. Zelensky misread the situation before and at start of war, ignored good avice from major EU countries and allowed himself to be misled by BOJO etc. Ended up making wrong calls and ordinary Ukranians paid the price and will continue to pay the price for long time to come.

I'm surprised Russia withdrawal from Kherson has not resulted in more gains in sp. Russia moving back to the east of Dnipro river is a huge boost for FXPO, and their hope of restoring the seabourne trade through port of Yuzhny once conflict has ended. Whatever happens now, this route is safe now. FXPO is in a good place with plenty of upside to come once peace gains further momentum. There will most definitely be peace now that both UK and US government approaches main elections in late 2024. They both would want a world that is much more stable long before this date and resolve of Ukraine conflict is at the heart of achieving this.

Think many sides in the conflict might now just be on the same page; in favour of peace breaking out in Ukraine. Up till now, Zelensky's Ukraine wants to fight Russia to the last European/US dime, whilst US/UK wanted Ukraine to fight till the last Ukranian. Whilst EU have largely been in favour of peace in Ukraine, US/UK have not been untill most recently it seems. Noises coming out of Washington indicates US wants Ukraine to start talking peace; may be brought about by likely mid-term gains by the Republican Party. Who knows...let's hope common sense prevails on all sides.
