Think this time around, sp appreciation will hold cos investors are buying knowing full well the road ahead; and like me they're happy with what's coming. So it seems big-blue is in for a long wait for it to drop back to 50p, if that is his forecast.

POLY have delivered rising divis since 2013, with dividend of 94 cents in 2020. Whilst liquidity is important, having bought in at about the current price, I'm more than happy to hold on and collect divis till kingdom comes. Also, there's that chance of getting a HUGE special divi at the begining to compensate for lack of divis for years 2021 and 2022 when there's been a strong gold price. Further, it is my udnerstanding that there's no witholding tax on divis in Kaz. One can safely say that average annual divi will at least be 25% with possibility of huge special divi (up to £1.50 a share) as soon as situation allows.

Somehow I cannot see this conflict running for another year. Uppermost in the minds of waring parties is that Ukraine is bleeding humans/population, damage to infrastructure and have a lure of prosperity around the corner through fast-track EU membership which can only happen once war ends. Russia meanwhile is under sanctions and it's might is increasingly questioned due to its performance on the battlefield. Putin have called it special operation and not a war which meeans he can withdraw from large parts having claimed mission accomplished and cling onto authority.
Both the parties can claim victory and this would allow peace talks to commence. However, I don't think we will arrive at this position until both have had their final go at exterminating each other over spring/summer months.
Alternative would be an indefinate stalemate, kind of an artemice which doesn't help either of the parties.
The war

It is a fact that Britain made some countries better like Australia, Canada, New Zealand; countries where they made their home. As regards the rest, we pillaged/exploited them to the bone. In the case of India, which was a first world country when British arrived over 300 years ago, when we left we left it with a third world status and divided. It was India which put GREAT into Britain cos it provided Britain with vast amounts of resources/wealth and an educated work force which they took to the rest of the empire. Economic discipline on govt borrowing applicable today applied then; and Britain was able to borrow shed loads to fund expansion of the empire, pledging India as collateral. It was an evil empire, so much so that we don't even teach our children in schools anymore. We teach them about atrocities inflicted by other countries eg. life under Nazis, but not about life under British empire. Now there's a clue as to who runs our country today!

Evraz was majority owned by a Russian oligarch close to Putin trading largely out of Ukraine. POLY is a company owned by UK/Russia shareholders trading out of Russia and Kaz. Russians have not forced any companies out of Russia to date; companies have pulled out of Russia by their own accord. I think POLY as a going concern in Russia is safe, the issue is getting money out of Russia for shareholders.

I'm sure they should be able to pay debt in Russia with money they earn in Russia

@blueburg...using Russia assets to pay down debt for example would increase shareholder value. It would take POLY 2 years to do that. I'm just giving one example.

@blueburg...at their last presentation, POLY mgt did say that having primary listing on LSE is limiting their ability to do things in Russia and with Russia assets. A move to Russia friendly jurisdiction/exchange would open this up again. My personal view is that there will still be issues when it comes to using Russia assets to reward shareholders in the west; I can't see Russia authorities allowing that. POLY mgt inferred they need to be proactive instead of reacting to any further sanction measures from either side, and so move to Kaz will keep them out of line of fire. They said failure to prepare could be fatal for the company.
POLY could attempt to use Kaz to dispose of Russia assets and de-risk the company altogether, and they probably have something in mind along these lines should conflict persist for any length of time. But somehow, I cannot see Russia authorities allowing this, given shareholder base is predominantly UK based. I think in the immediate future, the company will continue to trade, amass profits and cash flow, pay down debt and may even use funds to buy back shares if Russia authorities allow.

Terraplane...Absolute rubbish talk. British did to Falkland Islands (Malvinas) what they did to Diego Garcia in the Indian Ocean; they chucked out the locals and colonised it. In Diego garcia, they went one step further, they chucked the locals out and then leased it out to the US on a long lease and they turned it into a military base

Further, IR re-iterated a decision on any move any where will require 75% shareholder approval.

@chique...I mentioned RNS but he called it 'frequently asked questions & answers'. Isn't that similar? Also, I mentioned if there was any truth in what pandamonia said about Hong Kong declining POLY listing. He told me POLY have not approached Hong Kong just yet cos it is complicated process. I got the feel they're exhausing all energy on Kaz domicile with LSE GDR listing

I spoke to POLY IR today to chase up on RNS bringing clarification to situation. They told me, yes they will be putting out 'frequently asked questions and answers' as soon as it is ready. They have the draft already but this has to be cleared by the the company brokers, lawyers, LSE and relevant parties. He said POLY appreciates this may be causing frustration/misunderstanding etc but the processes have to be followed. He said most preferred outcome is where POLY maintains GDR listing on LSE.

@Cawn...given what's happened, I cannot see POLY re-domiciling to Kaz. I just cannot see them overcoming hurdles already mentioned or getting shareholder approval (75%) unless absolute survival depended on it.

@pandamonia...did you ask POLY IR about providing any updates in the near future?

I think move to Kaz opens all doors for POLY in terms of doing business (sell gold, pay divis, bid for mining licenses in Russia, sell Russian assets) but this would be at the expense of services to shareholders already mentioned. Think it would be easier for POLY to sell all assets in Russia and make exit if based in Kaz than based anywhere else, but they don't want to come out in the open and say that.
