The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
CINE shareholders needs to come to terms with the fact that CINE can never become a successful profit making company unless creditors write off large chunk of debts and freeholders of properties renegotiates leases/rents downwards going forward. Creditors have already decided they will not be doing that.
There is an alternative; get film companies to release 20 Barbies a year to significantly boost gate receipts and that isn't going to happen either.

Ukraine cannot win this war, neither can it afford to continue with it for much longer. The area Russia currently occupies used to account for over 70% of Ukraine exports so there's not much foreign currency being earned either. The war is almost entirely fought on borrowed money (from US, EU, other countries, IMF, World bank) in the form of loans, aid or lend lease program. Ukraine forex reserves currently stands at record levels, but its all made up of borrowed money which will have to be paid back.
Add to this the ending of Ukraine grain export agreement which will add to inflationary pressures globally. Further lack of progress in the counter offensive means disappointed partners on whom Ukraine depends for support and survival.
Most recently, Russia have started bombing Odessa and surrounding Black Sea costal areas taking out more infrastructure, crippling Ukraine's ability to trade.
Russia is well dug in and conducting a war of attrition to which Ukraine have no answer.
where does Ukraine go from here?
"Ergo........ We are Fuuuuuuuukkkkked."
Biden doesn't like us, EU doesn't, Russia doesn't, most of developing countries (especially ones that don't matter) don't like us, we don't get on with China etc etc.
Lets face it, UK have become 'Billy no mates' of this world.
Where do we go from here?
"why sentiment has change to positive ?"
Cos CINE day traders are taking 'no news as good news', and no more than that maidit.
Dividend will not be announced until the company splits, and it cannot split until it actually redomiciles. Also, not to forget Nesis did say he had absolutely nothing to do with POLY Russia so how can he announce divis on their behalf.
Get real................
I think most allow sells only...of course I stand to be corrected. Most will sell any POLY shares remaining in accounts on last day.
Market makers know that and have therefore lowered price with a big spread. They will probably transfer holding to Kaz after and make a killing
Urai5...can't agree with you more. Nothing new in todays news except confirmation of the date of redomciliation. And yes, the results will be good as all indicators has been in POLY's favour since turn of the year.
Pray for Peace indeed...too too cruel to watch. Also, the link BSR posted earlier states field doctors saying casualties are 3 times as high on the Ukranian sides as compared to before counter offensive. Not surprised cos if the mines don't get you the machine guns waiting once you run clear of mines will.
This war has to end.
Russia occupies approx 120,000 sq miles. According to article Ukraine has liberated about 80 sq miles, which equates to 0.06% of occupied land.
Further, article states how Dnipro river provides Russia with a solid buffer. If you recall, when Russia withdrew from parts of Kherson on the western side of Dnipro, Ukraine hailed it as a big success, but it was a tactical withdrawal. Russia found it very difficult to supply troops across river Dnipro and so withdrew, and now Ukraine is finding they just cannot attack on fronts where the river separates two forces as they would face same problems. The divide that runs along Dnipro is totally silent.
I think it's an idea emanating from someone who is a member of Flat Earth Society
CWWX..and why would the creditors (new CINE owners) want to carry a monkey on their back all the time. Gets in the way of their strategic decision making eg. how any disposals are treated for the purpose of this future valuation reward model? How much rate of return should creditors be allowed on their investment without facing confrontation from current CINE SH? etc etc
It's a daft proposal from whoever with no brain and will/should not receive any time of day.
BSR...I'm just about old enough to remember vaguely when Ireland and UK signed a Good Friday Agreement. There were elements within IRA and Sinn Fein who were dead against it and even formed what became known as Continuous IRA. They argued UK had to completely withdraw for them to accept the deal, but in reality they were more concerned with the gravy train which was about to stop when peace broke out.
Ukraine is a much more corrupt country and the conflict is on a mega scale with mega amounts of money poured into Ukraine. One can't help thinking that a similar scenario is playing out where the top brass wants the conflict to simmer on for a while until they have properly filled their coffers; and of course at the expense of ordinary Ukranians.
I've been reading lot lately about the spending spree going on various exotic destinations in Europe and the buyers are almost always Ukeranians. Why all of a sudden there's so many visible wealthy Ukeranians? Where's all the money coming from when the country is mostly destroyed?
Answer can be found in your wage slip.
To add to the long list of silly suggestions we've had over past few months.
"Most probably the shares ( bought through employee share scheme) is what made them stay longer in cine employment and they’ll jump ship if shares become worthless !"
How much more worthless do they have to become before they make their decision to jump ship?
BSR...sorry I should've said POLY sp which keeps ticking up daily. Think H1 will be good to v good, but second half will be best ever. I expect production at last year levels, inflationary impact to be minimal, debt down but no divi announced as the company will not have completed split by then
Tik, tik, tik...nothing stopping the price ticking up daily in the past many days
Maidit...you sound as though there just may be too much sauce in your immediate vicinity; you ok?
Clearly getting confused between mkt value of BTC coins in circulation with debt!
I only discovered few weeks ago that I still held 1,300 shares purchased at 77p in 2021 in my SIPP; might not even cover transaction fee so no point. I kicked myself upon discovering cos I thought I sold everything back then.
I think bug-blue would agree with most of your comments and so I would refrain and not give him any ammunition. One thing I am surprised about is how low the education have fallen in the list of priorities. IMO future of the country depends on it which may not be of concern for the likes of grandpa bug-blue with one foot in the - - - - -
BSR..some of the issues you mention 'may' be relevant for him to step down as Defence Secretary, but he is also stepping down as MP and he will only be 54 next year, so I think there may be other issues. His constituency disappearing is correct, but I think an MP in one of neighbouring constituency is retiring and with BW popularity he would have had no problem being selected as candidate there either.
I suspect there may be something more serious for him to quit politics at such a young age.
