euro continues to fall. The trump win and brexit result has the knock on effect of leading the traders to believe that Euro governments could get swept into a movement of anti establishment voting. Italy has a referendium shortly. France has LePen to deal with next summer and then the big one, German elections. Not mush time to the powers to be to turn european economies around. In fairness Mario has consistently advised governments to do more but has been ignored in favour of austerity. Will there be a policy change???

You have to hand it to Trump. He has an uncanny ability to find out what his audience wants to hear and tell them that without a care in the world. He did it again this morning. After months of bigoted, hate filled talk aimed at a specific demographic that he decided were weak and ready to believe anything that reinforced their own prejudices he came out this morning to tell the world that he will unite America and be a president for ALL the people. Just what we all wanted to hear. Markets relaxed because Trump is just really a nice misunderstood guy that said a few things in the heat of battle to get a few extra votes. Well its too late. Radar is right. You can't rise the masses and then just send them home. Someone has to pay the ferryman for the trip. So, he brings home the jobs. From where. Ireland. how is that a positive for us. So he gets rid of illegals. 50,000 are Irish. How is that a positive for us. He strikes a tax deal with the corporates and maybe reduces the US tax to 15% as promised. No advantage to us either. Stop the radicals. The US created the most of them in the first place and Trump said he will bomb the **** out of them. Hardly going to solve any problems here or in europe.. Banking and QE. Years of hard times to right a problem that originated in the US due to lax rules and easy money. Just when things were coming right he plans to undo all the regulations and have us back to square one is a few years. probably based on his own experiences he thinks the banks are too strict on lending. As a 4 maybe 5 times bankrupt they might have good reason to be weary of him. He is the ultimate boom bust guy. To fix the states he plans to borrow more. he has no interest in the nation debt been under control. That will lead to a weak dollar. Bad for our exporters tourism. He plans to frack more and return to coal mining. he has no interest in climate change either. The western worlds middle classes, including in ireland, are fearful and in a very bad bind. That is what Trump played on to get elected and Brexit passed. There is no way a (supposed) billionaire elite guy like this is the answer to their problems. I would love to be totally wrong on Trump but I'm not hopeful.

One thing Trump has said , along with plenty of other mad stuff, is that all the rules brought in to regulate banks will be scrapped. How can Yellin stay if he attempted to that. It will also bring an end to rate hikes in the US and most likely QE in Europe.. The knock on effect of electing this guy is just impossible to predict. I'm just struggling to find a positive . I guess Buffet saw this coming. He's going to find plenty of opportunities for his cash pile. Listening to Trump accept now. It scares the he'll out of me.

Just one last thing. This is not good for BKIR because its not good for Ireland.

35% of market cap is cash in the bank but no move in sp and with no dividend this year that % will be higher by year end. Unfortunately its an unloved sector.

A lot of press coverage on INM and that 60mil euro cash pile. with profits of 30mil per year and no debt INM are going to come under pressure to either invest or pay out some of the cash. As an example of how the value is improving here, there is a US media company I looked at that has profits of $40 mil and a share price of $0.33. Its one of the top 3 radio station owners in the states. The big difference it has with INM is a debt burden on $1.2 billion. Pitt said they have a list of 100 possible targets they are running the rule over ( here and in the UK). they know print sales are unlikly to grow so they are looking at digital and printing. On printing the aim is to buy companies that have an in house print cost that INM could shut down and cut costs significantly by using their own presses. All in all I'm starting to see a bit of light here. I'll never get all my money back (or even close) but I think there is definite room for a nice improvement all the same.

Smurfit Kappa Trading in London switching to sterling today Smurfit Kappa has announced the group’s shares will commence trading in sterling on the LSE from the open of trading today. Ordinary shares on the Irish Stock Exchange will continue to trade in euro. The announcement is in line with Smurfit Kappa’s previously outlined plans provided on February 10th. It is one step in the overall process in seeking a primary listing on the LSE but does not yet represent formal application. Smurfit Kappa will formally apply for the primary listing following the publication of the group’s annual report. The process is expected to complete 20 days post application when the company will likely be eligible for FTSE membership.
