Wall closed higher yesterday building on Fridays rally. Investors now expect a second Trump Presidency in the wake of the failed assassination attempt. While the Nsdq and 500 ended off highs the DJI notched an all-time closing high (40,212)

led higher by Caterpillar, GS & JPMC while the 14 losers were propped up by Boeing, Verizon and Nike.

Many think a Trump Presidency will result in a more hawkish trade policy, tax cuts, deregulation and climate control cuts to name a few as the momentum in the mrkt is based on investor optimism of Trump's avowed aim of backing America first and last.

Stocks in focus inc GS whose 2Q profit nos more than doubled while dept store Macys fell 12% as the store scrapped buyout talks with Arkhouse and Trump Media soared 31% to $41 on a massive 76m traded more than 10 × the average.

Others expected to benefit under Trump included Gun maker Smith & Wessom and prison operator Geo Group. On the downside solar energy firms slid on renewable energy subsidies being curtailed and Chinese firms fell on fears of tightening trade restrictions under Trump.

Japan is closed for Marine Day. Also known as "Oceans Day" to celebrate the bounteous offerings of the seas. On Friday a bout of profit taking saw the Nikkei slump 1037 points. Its a mixed picture across other Asian and Pacifica mrkts this morning. Hong Kong (18079) ran into profit takers off 220 and Shanghai is flat at (2971).

In Australia Sydney is trading higher moving above the ASX

8000 mark to all-time highs soon after opening. Gains were seen across most sectors for the 3rd day though 'Goldies' are lower despite a 3 week bullish trend. Analysts expect the trend to continue higher for the yellow metal this week.

A total of 59,425 trades were traded on the week well below last weeks 162,000. Nevertheless above recent averages. Deals totalled 147 buys outpacing sells by a ratio of 2•7:1. Shares off best (1170) closing at 1120 on the week for a gain of 25p as the shares went xd on Friday.

Another chance for investors to top up if so minded? See no reason for the shares to drop so much so looking longer than your nose its a very solid buy into 2024/5. As ever you should resist the temptation to bale out as down the line holders can afford to wait and watch.

In this day and age you'd think their would be some form of access so let's hope.....

Stocks on Wall St showed a substantial downturn on the day as the 500 & Nsdq pulled back after hitting intra-day highs. At the close the Nsdq was down 464 while the S&P dropped 49 and the narrower based Dow (19 up/11 down) spent most of the session around the unchanged line before edging up 32 points. Volumes on US exchanges were above average (12•2bn) traded.

Stocks in focus included Tesla which fell $6 to $237 on news of a 2 month delay to its robotaxi launch till October ending 11 straight days of gains. Big tech suffered a bout of profit taking, Nvidia & Apple leading the declines as investors rotated into Russell small caps which have lagged the main mrkt index in '24 by over 3%. Investors are betting rate cuts will improve conditions for smaller company stocks which ytd have just crossed the gain line up 1•5%.

A Labour Dept report showed US consumer prices fell unexpectedly in June. Overall CPI increased by 3% y-o-y vs 3•1% expectations. Traders now price in a 90% chance for a Sept rate cut.

Major airlines fell on discretionary spending fears. Delta 2Q profits tumbled 29% to $45. Most airlines are facing increasing capacity and rising costs that have driven down fares compared to last year. United ($46) expect an increase of bums on seats this summer turning round the declines seen to date.

At the half way stage (wk 28)

Buys outpace Sells by a ratio of 7:1 (67 trades) well below volumes of last few weeks.

At the Agm (wk 30) the board might update holders as to the US Navy 5 year procurement program which the board seem confident of MSi being selected to supply as a follow on.

We hear of fairly widespread interest from Europe and others re: Paladin but rarely confirmation of orders received. Perhaps its too early?

On Wall St stocks moved higher throughout the day following the middling performance in the previous session. The Dow the main focus of interest to most onlookers surged 429 points, 220 of that coming in the last hour now c.300 off an all-time high. Home Depot, Travellers & 3M led the risers only Disney and Visa in the dog house.

The 500 closed above 5600 for the first time ever pulling the Nsdq to a new record as Nvidia ($135) fuelled a rally among the magnificent '7' companies. Stocks in focus included the aforementioned and Apple ($232) raced to a record high valuing the company at ($3•572tn) just ahead of Msoft ($3•465tn) in no 2 spot and Nvidia (3•318tn) at no 3.

It's hard to believe that Individually the top 3 US companies are worth more than the entire LSE which if taken as a whole would rank no 4 in global mrkt value ahead of Google, Amazon & Saudi Aramco.

Volume on US exchanges were relatively light well below the daily average of 11•6bn traded. The 500 and Nsdq Inched up to new record highs after Powell told lawmakers that more 'good' economic data would strengthen the case for rate cuts now 70% priced in for Sept.

The Nsdq put on 13 its 6th straight gain as the 500 added 4 for its 5th straight rise as analysts on average see the S&P companies increasing their aggregate earnings per share by 10% in Q2 up from 8% in Q1. The major banks gained after Reuters reported the Fed is considering a rule change that could save the big banks billions of dollars in capital. JPMC, Wells Fargo & Citi all rose ahead of Q nos on Friday and trade at record highs up on average 22% ytd.

Nvidia rose $4 to $132 helping other big tech stocks. The information technology index hit an all-time high boosted by Meta and Tesla while Msoft off $6 to $460, Salesforce down $4 to $252 and Boeing ($183) were a drag on the Dow off 53 just 11/30 gainers on the day. The Dow up 4% this year lags the S&P and Nsdq up (17% & 22%) respectively.

Wall St ended mixed turning sluggish after a solid opening.

Among the major averages the Nsdq & S&P moved on to record highs while the Dow slipped 31 led down by Nike, Visa & Coco Cola. Big techs Meta & Msoft were flat though both within touching distance of new highs along with gains in other large tech counters.

Taiwanese chip maker TSMC briefly joined the $tn club of global mega cap companies, now the 7th largest company by mrkt cap just ahead of Berkshire Hathaway ($882

Expectations for a 25bp rate cut received a boost after Fridays non farm payrolls report showed US job growth slowed in June. Traders now see a 74% chance of a cut in September.

Major banks Citi, JPMC & Wells Fargo kick off Q2 earning nos on Friday and plane maker Boeing added $2 at $186 after agreeing to plead guilty to a criminal conspiracy fraud charge and pay a fine of $244m. Ytd Boeing is down 26% after a series of own goals have tanked the mrkts confidence in the companie's management.

Morning all.

For the first time since I began keeping daily records of MSi trading stats their were no sell trades during the session.

Of the 25 bargains dealt all were buys leaving the shares unchanged at 1070 on total volume of 10,442.

As many suspect the shares are being tightly held back for what reason I don't know. Churning keeps the jobbers satchels supplied and the sp artificially low or nowhere near fair value which is considerably north of current. Nevertheless the sp hit a new closing high on a wide 40p spread (1070-1110).

The 64th annual general meeting is to be held at the Holiday Inn Warmsworth Doncaster on Thursday 25th July at 11:00am.

Bar Taiwan all other Far East and Pacifica mrkts trend down at the start of wk 28 despite a a fair performance from the US last week. Traders await key consumer and producer data for June from the US later in the week.

Japan is flat trading off recent all time high of (41,112) at 40,886 after posting a current account surplus of 2•849tn yen in May exceeding expectations. Imports increased by 9•3% on the year but exports topped forecasts up 12%. Gold is expected to test the $2400 level as the Fed shows little inclination to raise rates.

Morning all.

Shares slipped back to 1070-1095 off 12 on the week despite buys outpacing sells by a ratio of 2•9:1 on the week. The stock is up from 1010 on results day. There was no material share price news to impact the share price.

Fourteen of the world's 20 bigest stock mrkts have hit record highs this year with Japan recently passing 40,000 on the Nikkei. After decades of stagnation the Nikkei overtook its 1989 high of 38,916 despite giving up its spot as the world's 3rd largest economy to Germany.

Over in the US the economy delivered another healthy month of hiring adding 206,000 jobs in June reflecting the resilience of America's consumer-driven economy.

Having a right larf watching the parade of dead beats walking the plank to No 10! Wot a load of nonsense.

It's been a nice bounce off the 292 low on July 3...

A week following the record results and increased dividend

Msi has traded flat on good volume business. With only today before the end the week buys are outpacing sells by a ratio of 3•6:1. Cash

in the company coffers of £42•7m representing c.260p could be used to pay a special dividend if not invested in other projects but my guess is it will be saved for a rainy day.
