New highs on the US mrkts overnight the 500 closed at 2934, that's a 25% rise since Christmas low with Nsdq also in record territory at 8121.
Mr Jones (+145) just 1% off its record high.
London joined in the fun closing at (7523) a 6 month high on back of the oil price.

Earnings nos from Coca Cola, Twitter & U.Technologies surprised on the upside and new home sales of 694,000 added to the bullish sentiment.
Oil was flat to down a touch with WTI and Brent June deliveries slipping back 0.53 & 0.44%
respectively.

After a strong start Asian bourses are heading south, TK -100, HK-254 & SH off 29.

Hope today's 13 rise (0.888m buys v 1.2m sells) is not a one-off. The OP did little on the days trading finishing flat at $74.39.

Other o...lies all trended higher after the fact but one swallow doesn't make a summer so I wouldn't be tap dancing to the pub just yet.
I would need to see the sp gain sustained and increased over the next few months before i believe sentiment has changed about G and that's a tough call.
The OP averaged nearly $76 Apr through Oct last year (Nov & Dec averaged $61) so increasing production is key if the OP lags.

The mrkt can be a very unforgiving place for Cos that disappoint which G has in the past. That is all behind us now but the mrkt has a long memory when it suits so any glitches in barrelage will punished.

Hopefully with the new wells and drilling programme in 19/20 we will be £3 plus.

What a difference c.9 months makes. The scale of Gs under-performance is shocking since the high of 290 & oil at $74. While oil has been resilient G has fallen c.23%.
That provided a buying opportunity for some, so they rejoiced in Mr Mrkts
misery days. Its worth noting that statistically mrkts are hostile to in-outers
& friendly to buy & holders.
By any statistic G is selling at a discount to any nos of metrics while the OP is nearing recent highs and equities in general are performing well G struggles.

Learning to love a falling mrkt is not easy and requires a change of mind set, ie so do not panic and hit the sell button when mrkts fall or companies expierience temporary difficulties.
The only people who lose when mrkts fall are the 'disinvestors.' G holders should not trade their basic advantage into a disadvantage at this stage in G life.

As WB often says " being smart aint good enuff". Try some independent thinking its one of his greatest strengths. However that all maybe 'nice n' easy, easy peezy but does not answer the basic question of why the underperformance?

The randomness of mrkts continue to befuddle most of us and tbh ones time is better served analysing stocks than the vagaries of mrkt psychology.

Shares were mixed in Asia (HK closed) following the Easter wk holidays. TK up 123, SH off 25, SK -3 TAI +15.
Mrkts will be concentrating on US GDP nos on Friday, home sales and techs reporting, FBk, Twitter, Snapchat & Boeing.
In London Banks will kick off the earnings season.
London called 10 lower at open tomorrow.

Probably, a fool and his money...hell i bght G down from the 650s to 220s throwing in the towel for a big loss so why not Spieth? So far it's 3 tournaments for nil return
and another 3 before the PGA then 3 more before the US Open.
Think he will play the Wells Fargo, the Byron Nelson then the PGA. I'll stay with him for those then re-assess if i have any money left (allocated £1000 for golf bets this year).
Inc Spieth and others my pot is diminishing fast, c £600 left.

CFO Les Wood earned £1.6m plus bonus shares worth c.£633.000 and exploration director McCone took home £1.5m inc a £596.000 bonus in shares.
All for simply maintaining the previous years performance. TUL has debts of c. £2.4bn yet thought it prudent to pay a div on profits of $85m it's first in 5 years.
Nice work if you can get it considering the dismal sp over the last 5 years.

A c 5% yield, fantastic free cash flow, production increases '19-'21 and were worth £290m less than non producer non dividend payer & loss maker HUR. To the stock market that makes perfect sense.

So, i guess their outlook / prospects must be truly staggering but I won't be joining the band wagon of dreamers, prophets and blue sky punters.

Went out to 50s seemed overdone to me so took a little of that. Spieth -3 after 12 (leader-9) when rain stopped play.
Be happy if he can get to -5 after 36 to have a realistic win/place chance.

Unfortunately the delay overnight won't really help but that's true for the rest of the field.

World Snooker starts today at Sheffield, been a happy hunting ground for me over the years last (4/5) winners. Robertson in the better half of the draw fits the bill but around 5s he's too skinny & RS (bottom half of draw) at 7/4 is zero value. Hawkins a prev finalist at 22s looks an 'interest' bet with 9s to reach final as a saver and he's in the top (easier half).

I see our useless Police are keeping up their grand tradition of doing sfa, skateboarding and dancing with protestors to name a few japes, when they should be hauling away people bent on bringing London to a standstill.

Across the road their partners in crime our useless MPs
are busy destroying democracy while Teacher traips around Wales to no good effect and Corby sits in his allotment topping up his sun'tan with a glass of brown ale.

Our local councils are hell bent on using anti social
powers to fine residents for dropping off children at school or feeding the birds or putting ones waste in the wrong bin. Over 10.000 fixed penalty notices were issued last year by Councils for such minor nuisances.

Protestors barricading London's bridges & roads
are treated with respect and offered mugs of tea. No fines for public order offences like spray painting the roads and vandalism in the Marble Arch area for them. Oh no they are exempt.

Most of us are law abiding, for the common good at least but if our Politicians and Police DGAF, why should we?

It seems to be fairly fluid. I thought 7.59 on the Monday would be ok but apparently not, anyways most have decided on Sunday so bets in by then.

I have decided to cont to follow the misfortunes of one Jordan Spieth this year. He's playing (if you could call it that) in the RBC Heritage, shot a level par round after dropping 3 shots on the par 3s, watt! I took 25s at the off now 50s so a nil return is on the cards. Current pos 6 behind. Ytd I'm down £185 on JS ex RBC.

It was one of those weeks when the mrkt shone hot and G blew cold. So not the best of times or the worst of times.

Hello me 'ol mucker. Good to hear PMO has treated you well so far. What you may miss in erudite scintillating postings from G-men your making up for in cash returns, so not too shabby.

Futures average price for the period June - Dec'19 is $70.37.

Dividend seekers in the main seek a (better) return from shares than bank deposits etc.
In a way this compensates them for added risk and sometimes little capital appreciation.
G not yet in that particular camp so the jury is out and it will be interesting to see if G can pull off a double of say 5-8% yield and 20% appreciation on the shares.
For sure that's the ideal scenario, not one I subscribe too as I believe all monies should be retained by the Co to grow the business.
Its sometimes said management pay dividends because they do not know what to do with surplus cash. Perhaps thats a cynical viewpoint?

However once a Co joins the dividend list pressure is on them to increase the pay out yoy (or at least equal) and they may become less proactive in seeking acquisitions etc...

No doubt large iis/funds on the register need income to pay their investors which is added pressure on the bod who might become risk averse in order to protect the dividend.

That's certainly not what I want from the G board. Throwing off large sums of cash to pay out holders
might suit some but not me.
I'd much rather G at 300 a share than 250 & a taxed divvy.
