The 'Fear Index" (Vix) hit a 6 month low last wk at (11.95) a 70% tumble from the recent Dec top.
Stock index futures have surged raising concerns that invstrs are becoming complacent, as stocks on the US mrkts are knocking all-time highs. Currently the Vix is 12.60 and ytd is down 50%.

The Vix rose above 36 back in the Dec sell off in US stocks and moves inversely to equities. If stocks ride the up escalator, Vix takes the down one.

The reversal by the Fed on rates, progress of sorts on China trade and the 10yr T/Bill at 2.5% have all supported the gains in the mrkts.
Those moves have some participants worried that the mrkts could be due a spike up in Vix to near its long term av of 19 should the S&P break south.
Vix is a number that invstrs should be more aware of as an early indicator of trouble ahead.

Lybia oil shock as France & Italy are on opposite sides to control the Libyan oil fields.
A full blown civil war and oil price shock is on the cards for the Eurozone economy.
650,000 bopd could be knocked out of the global mrkt just as Lybia was producing 1m bopd.
The war of words between France & Italy hit a new low and relations between the two have soured considerably.
France has denied any secret plan or double game in Lybia while Italy say Macron endorsed a military campaign to overthrow the UN backed Govt in Tripoli in a naked power grab.

The oil price flat to u/c this morning at $71.41.

Down £200 on my Masters picks. So it's s***
or bust time.
Stuck £100 on Koepka at 13/2 in the hope Molinari stops playing like God, Woods keeps hitting it into the trees off the tee, Finau fades and Koepka starts playing half sensibly.

That's asking plenty but faint heart never uckdef fat pig as the old saying goes.

They say anyone within 10 of the leader (-7) can still win the Masters, none of mine ever do, so if so my picks better get a hurry up. Woodland -3 Spieth -1, Smith O, Mcilroy 0. I threw a few quid at Spieth at 200s when he was imploding early round 1 (5 over after 6).
All give me place chances on 'moving' day today.

The mrkt sails merrily onwards ignoring the gathering dark clouds.
Whatever it was a mixed to better wk for global mrkts.

Long overdue the 'Master's was relegated from the 'majors' rote of championships.
A tournament that invites a bunch of amateurs, has- beens, special invitees and no hopers and cannot find a place for Westwood (2nd twice) & a winner this year and Furyk is a complete nonsense and one that Bobby Jones would not countenance had he been alive today.

Of course it will never happen but the Players Championship should be the 4th Major having a far stronger field of 150 to Augusta's 87.
Perhaps they could use Augusta for a 'match play' major as was the USPGA back in the day but US tv would never allow that and they call the tune.

It's the Mickey Mouse Major and cannot be on a par with the other 3, unless they open it up for the top 100 (US money list) and the best from the rest.

Anyways I've had 3 bets. Spieth (20/1) best record here since 2013 by miles (despite many thinking its Mcilroy) and am ignoring his 2019 form which is worse than mine! Cameron Smith (5th last yr) and Woodland poor form round here but playing better (80 & 70) as lively outsiders. I'll back Mcilroy to join the famous 5 if he has a poor start ie (5 off leader) after rnd 1.

Augusta does produce some long shot winners from 45-200/1 (8 times since 2007) and the
odds averaged 101/1. So picking a winner is harder than the G.National.
Last short priced winner was Mickleson (13/2) in 2006 and Spieth 12s in 2015 & neither were fav.

Over the last 13 years the winners score averages 278 that's 10 under par.
