Voters across Europe turned out in significantly higher numbers for the Euros. This year 51% voted up from 43% in 2014.

In the UK voter malaise cont just 37% bothered against 35.6% in 2014.
I'm not surprised electing MEPs given the Brexit shambles wouldn't have been high on most people's wish to do list.

Of those that did, your right boyo...a significantly higher number were in the remain camp by c.2m votes.
I wouldn't read too much into that but suspect the 'remain' camp would win if we ever had another referendum.

The I predict a rout voters got their wish booting the Tories off the pitch.
The non delivery of Brexit
infuriated the 'leavers' who voted for the Faragenes who snapped up 32%, sending 29 MEPs to Strasbourg to sit around twiddling and collecting a nice pay check. Cheers lads.

Labour hardly fared any better coming 3rd with c.14% to the Tories 9% even getting turned over by the Wishywashers in leafy Islington Corbos home town and duffed up in Welsh Wales by Farage & Plaid Cymru. What say you Jer? You'r gonna listen to the people? You gonna become the remainer party? Make your bloody mind up!

Not sure this means a great deal other than the Country is still hopelessly split which plays into the populism of Farage and Corbo via a split vote.
While the two main parties obsess over the Withdrawl mechanics Farage says trusting the old guard way of doing things is finished and it's time for a new world order. He may have a point.
The By Election on June 6th in Peterborough a marginal seat will be the next big test for Farage. They voted 60% to leave in '16.

Having botched Brexit the Govt battle lines are drawn in the selection of a new leader. For a party that has so royally screwed things up its ironic that the so called 'uniters' of the party are massing the barricades to stop Boris by any means, mostly foul.

Whoever is selected has firstly to regain the public's trust and deliver a Brexit deal if at all possible (4/1 against). I think Boooris is in cuckoo land if he thinks he can get a deal by Oct 31st for who will he talk to? The last lot will have packed their bags for St Tropez. So a vote of no confidence in 'no-deal- leave' could trigger an election if voted down by MPs.
Secondly face down the popularity of the Marxist Corbinistas and their hare brained policies of billions to be spent on renationalisation of the utilities, railways and rebuying the student vote.
Thirdly the worst of the three buying another year from Brussels to sort ourselves out.
Or finally he could say "not my fault Guv it was 'er wot dun it"

Imo the only way ahead once a candidate is in situ, is a General Election. However unpalatable, it must take place since that will be the only option left
to cement the way forward.

BPs market value is c.22x
the value of G and based on Gs nos BPs profits should be c. £15.0bn. In fact they are considerably less (£10.0bn).

If we consider G to be undervalued, how do BP holders feel? Perhaps not a great comparison but for what it's worth you may as well rate yourself with the best?

Given the nervousness over the Hormusk Strait and US naval manoeuvres etc..., it seems an odd time to be reducing exposure to G and oil when logic says one should be doing the opposite. However....

Good nos by any standards which incidentally I thought were good at 300/250/200 So double good at 180. As ever the sp for reasons the mrkt only knows bears no relation to the fundamentals as we know them.
DNO doesn't seem to get the bums rush from invstrs (28%) up ytd
v G (7%) up ytd. I don't follow DNO but the recent purchase away from the ME may have helped sentiment wise..... as opposed to the economic realities of getting oil out of the ground v the N.Sea.

However one decides to invest in companies be it solely on nos, gut feelings,
I like the boss, my mate tipped them etc...,
I'd wager you'd be hard pressed to find a better dividend paying stock than G, with potential to double from here.

Regretfully supported by the blue funk over wined and dined Tory back benchers of which there are many, who given an opportunity to shoot scored own goals time after time backing a dead woman walking.
They surely will get their come-uppance when the tsunami of hate hits them.

As the Party stands they deserve a good kicking in order to get back to the basics of the referendum result. Sadly it may be too late now given the slide into the abyss.
The Faragenes are now the Tory party bete noir. A near 20% swing to the Brexit Party in a GE will see the Tories cast into the wilderness helping Labour into No 10 ready to nationalise the railways, energy and most everything that moves at a knockdown price. You want to see Jer, bring a pckt of Woodbines and a couple of bottles of brown ale and the Coal Miners Health & Safety regs for light reading .

Has it been worth all the effort these last 6 years? Perhaps, certainly not in cash terms as lady G has near emptied my bank account at times but that's a risk i'm well used to taking.

My div might just about pay for a few pints down my local, still my avc is zero (in a fashion) so that was an unexpected bonus I can tell you and Mr Spieth has repaid me in full plus a lump sum for keeping the faith.

On the one swallow doesn't make a summer theme or when stocks fall people panic losing their nerve and cut their losses, view it as a great opportunity as you will make a ton more money in bearish times than bullish ones.
G is currently 'on sale' for reasons other than the underlying fundamentals of the business and the irrationality of Mr Market gets attached to businesses that should not be tarred by the same brush.... but are.
Remember a bull mrkt is just like sex it feels best just before it ends so learn to like a sinking mrkt because it gives you opportunity to rise again...sorry about that!

Aside from G -11% and sector-wide-woes today already well debated, May took centre stage tanking the mrkts, pound and the Tories hopes of avoiding annihilation in the Euro elections by ditching the Withdrawal Agreement. To be fair this Euro vote is more Brexit exasperation and disgust than anything else imo.

The £ has fallen for over 2 wks now hitting a low of €1.135 / $1.266 and equities which had largely ignored the dire straits of Govt inaction this year tumbled over 100 points today.
With mass insurrection among Tory MPs, party discipline has broken into open warfare while May sits in her office the Withdrawal Agreement papers strewn about her oblivious to the anger in the country.
Exemplified by 1300 Tory councillors and 44 councils lost in the local elections.

Yet she clings on in the forlorn hope of salvaging something from the wreckage of her disastrous premiership. Loathsome quitting is but a tardy gesture a photo opportunity.
The Cabinet complicit in this farce, struck dumb by the crisis, face their reputations being tarnished by looking after their leadership prospects and propping up a PM not up to the job. They should have resigned en masse had they the wit to do so.

Will anyone else follow Loathesome along the gangplank? I doubt it. Self preservation rules ok!

Stuck my Spieth money in here.

Last year I thought Ideas sp had out performed the business, ie while the value had advanced at an excellent rate over the years, it's market price had grown faster.
That situation cannot persist indefinitely so expect periods of underperformance as well, which fortuitously i did as no sooner had I sold my holding the shares started falling.

Ideally I would prefer the sp to track its intrinsic value (DCF that can be taken out of a business highly subjective as that is) so as every shareholder would benefit in exact proportion to the progress Idea made over time.

I accept that's wishful thinking on my part.
Unfortuneately the sp will never conform to this ideal as speculators and day traders will bid up the stock to make gains, volatility being their life blood.
Nevertheless as long as earnings and return on equity/capital cont to grow at a reasonable rate all will be well smoothing out periods of over/under performance. Last year a 33% increase in eps and up from -3 to +4p over 10 years cont the excellent progress.
I remember reading some years back that in the period '83-93 only 6 Fortune 500 companies returned 30% on equity.

I know some investors have Ideagen on their 'forever' list of holdings (too late for me alas) so daily,weekly, etc moves in the sp will be neither here nor there as long as the basic nos move in the right direction and at a minimum of say c.15% gain in value or doubling every 5 years, holders will do very well or until Idea becomes so large that's almost impossible.

Should that ever occur holders will have long given up tap dancing to work.

If you have a Huawei phone you have been given a reprieve. Earlier Trump had blacklisted Huawei products from the US mrkts and Google had blocked its Android system on Huawei phones.
With sales (59m) overtaking Apple's IPhone and second only to Samsung a block by Google would have been catastrophic for its sales in the West.

However a 90 day reprieve has been granted to Huawei enabling it to maintain its network and Android system to its mobs. This will give them time to construct their own operating system but whether they could offer U Tube and the like is unknown.
Nsdq is off 5% May to date (up 16% ytd) with Apples shares ($185) down 10% so far this month as Trumps trade war rumbles on and on.

In London the TM100 is little changed May to date
And c.688 (16%) better ytd.

Morning TT. No doubt Idea cont to churn out impressive nos though I would like to see the rev growth increase considerably.
One number that has been static since 2015 is rev per employee. In 2015 it was c.£88k and remained little changed till 2018 when it hit £96k and likely £110k+ in '19 on 6x more staff nos and c.8x more rev than 2013 that's v.g. going.

I feel sure the rev per employee number will increase hugely in the years to come.

You mention dividends, never been that interested in being taxed again but recognise getting a return off ones investment suits most pis and iis.

Personally, any excess cash would be better used in share buy backs assuming the price is below intrinsic value as the remaining shares a) get an immediate gain in value and also b) sellers have an additional buyer in the mrkt.
I expect Idea have surplus funds earmarked to make further acquisitions and as debt is not a problem I feel the div pay out could have been more profitably used.
Anyways i'm sure i'm in the minority on that one.

Idea has bght quite a few bolt on Cos over the years and so far so good.
But one thinks prices for decent value enhancing businesses at a sensible price are a thing of the past or becoming harder to find.... no bad thing if it reins in the 'can do' excesses of deal hungry CEOs.
So watch out for debt financed acquisitions
and ask yourself why risk what we have to get what we don't need.
