Since when has G become a div paying stock in the eyes of investors, one you would buy for income? The minute you put G in this category the reason for buying an expo o...lie goes out the window. G aint BP or RDSB, nor should it be.
I never bght G on the expectation of income. I want capital appreciation...stuff the div.
The recent pay out (taxable) of course hardly makes up for the sp decline.
So if income is not your bag and your not been rewarded for hanging around...WTF are you here for....?
........Oh yes, you think Gs going to 250, 300, etc..., that's what I have been betting on in what seems like forever only to be mightily disappointed.
Whatever the nos say, even the most die hard longtermers must be on the brink of throwing in the towel. Would I recommend that?
Absolutely not! Mrkt sentiment can change in an instant, so far the mrkt has been looking elsewhere...you know where, highly indebted companies and those with miniscule production which have been flavour of the month and have been attracting loose money. That won't last.
Shorting and in out trading has been the strategy for years. I don't believe down here at 160 ish there is much scope to continue making money unless your an out'n out gambler oblivious to fundamentals. Then it's just a toss of the coin where the risks outweigh any reward and a turn is your only need, win / lose.
So, hand on heart how many G investors can say it's been a good investment over any but the best low entry point?
Not many imo! So why are we still here hoping for a miracle? Tbh i don't really
know. We cling to the hope & belief that things will turn out well... when it just ain't so. Talk about the good, bad and G!
I know sp performance is temporary and class (lth) is permanent. If you don't believe that, best go throw the dice at Crockfords. At least you'll win or lose quickly saving you the frustration and heartache of being stuck in the dog house.
Afternoon all.
